"The courage of a Soldier is found to be the cheapest and most common quality of human nature." - Edward Gibbon (The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, vol. 3, ch. 26)
Mono-White Weenie Tribal Soldiers on a Budget (and Pauper to boot...)
Any suggestions you might have are most welcome.
Pretty Straightforward Deck Tech:
Creatures: Veteran Armorer,
Veteran Armorsmith
, and
Veteran Swordsmith
are all solid drops that act as pseudo Soldier lords.
Gideon's Lawkeeper
and Stonehorn Dignitary lock down your opponent for combat on your terms, and
Ballyrush Banneret
helps with the mana curve by letting you drop Soldiers even cheaper.
Spells: Mix and Match to taste. Between the Mainboard and Sideboard, there's plenty of Artifact/Enchantment removal, as well as protection for our pauper soldiers in the form of Ethereal Haze and Holy Day (Sideboard). Finally, Raise the Alarm produces Soldier tokens at Instant speed. (I'd love to put more token production in the deck, but the only other Instant I could find was
Join the Ranks
, which was a little on the expensive side at CMC (4), since I'm not utilizing Allies). Gather the Townsfolk would be great, but alas, Humans rather than Soldiers.
Lands: Could probably be adjusted a bit depending on personal preference.
Sideboard & Maybeboard: More of a good thing. Any suggestions?
Palace Guard
+
Ghostly Possession
leads to shenanigans.
Notes: I'd replace Disenchant with Sundering Growth, but for the time being it's marked as an illegal card for Pauper.
