Inspired by James Milan's Cult of Athreos which was submitted and shown in honorable mention by Gavin Verhey at Wizards in his Reconstructed article (Tuesday May 6th, 2014). I was impressed when I saw James' submission using Door of Destinies for Shadowborn Apostle and wanted to make a similar casual version.

This version is a Weekend Cult-Mixer between Shadowborn Apostles and Dark Supplicants. Although activating the Shadowborn Apostle ability will happen less often than hard-casting a CMC 6 demon with this build, activating Dark Supplicant has become much easier.

Door of Destinies on the field with creature type Human lets you quickly build to 5/5 Shadowborn Apostles which are demon-nasty on their own. Sacrifice a pumped up Apostle with Disciple of Bolas for crazy card-advantage and life-gain. Both Athreos, God of Passage and Teysa, Orzhov Scion ensure you can recycle your Cult Members as they perish quite often due to combat, their own summoning sacrifices, and Altar's Reap.

If you manage to summon a Rune-Scarred Demon through the Shadownborn Apostle ability, be sure to grab an Immortal Servitude. Cast it that turn or next turn and get yourself a Prince of Thralls.

The Prince's number 1 cult member, Demon's Herald, was invited to the mixer but RSVPed "No thank you. Gotta study that weekend." I think there just wasn't enough Red and Blue guests for his liking.

Bile Blight help takes care of the rival party across the battlefield before smashing face. Be sure to blast your speakers with Killing Wave, which can be a one-sided board sweeper if DJ Athreos and/or MC Teysa are on the turntables.

If all else fails and the neighbors call the authorities, Cabal Archon is sure to break things up and clear everyone out in time to clean up the mess before the Dean finds out.
