Actually kleinar, I beat twin consistently. My dragons that control what's on the board doesn't allow them to have a creature to copy. I also play it against a lot of aggro deck and it wins...I get dragons out on turn 3. I play this deck a lot in competitive modern games and it performs well. If you don't believe so then I suggest you try it out for yourself. I put a lot of thought into this deck and being an aggro player myself, I would not have it be inferior to decks like that. Even if enough decks do bomb rush me with swarm and are too fast somehow, I have Slumbering Dragon
in the sideboard for a reason.
I don't know what doesn't make sense to you but I'll play it out. Turn 1, forest and Utopia Sprawl
. Turn 2 Voyaging Satyr
just from the forest with Utopia Sprawl
and lay another land. Turn 3, depending if i layer a land this turn, I now have 6 mana. 4 mana from the one forest with utopia sprawl on it since I get to untap it with Voyaging Satyr
and tap it again. And then 2 more from the lands I played. I also run Arbor Elf
so there's a greater chance of the combo.
I have 12 dragons, I'm going to find a dragon and if not, or if they counter it, I also have Harmonize
.
You are trying to suggest a mana ramp, Noble Hierarch
, that provides one semi useful mana for this deck and that dies to all those spells that give -1/-1(which I already have in Arbor Elf
and Birds of Paradise
). For one more mana (not saying I don't understand the importance of one mana as I do I just have multiple one drops that I can play first) I can get a 1/2 creature that gives me both green or red, and has a lot more of an upside if i manage to get Utopia Sprawl
out. Who doesn't die to -1/-1 mass token kill.
To say i don't understand the competitive modern format is extremely insulting and ignorant. It is my stomping ground. And to say that simply because of a mana dork is even worse. If anything you should call me out as a Timmy player and not a Johhny player (not that either are bad). I feel as if I am pretty proven, both by experience and clearly by what others think on this site(see upvotes on pretty much all of my decks). In trying my best to not be arrogant, but I am experienced.
