You know what I love? Spells. Tons of spells. And towers. Nothing says lovin' like a set of huge, humming towers ready to rain down hot electric death on my enemies.
To that end, I give you... "StormTower Estates" (That title is a work in progress, much like the deck.)
There are two wincons mainboarded here. First we have the Multiform Wonder who's a total champ on offense and defense. Evasion? Sure, why not. Attack and play rear guard? Done. Lifelink? Drink up, he's buying. And it can shift P/T cheaply to survive our (occasionally multiple) Radiant Flames.
Speaking of Radiant Flames, that's the reason we're slotting in a Swamp, 2x Smoldering Marsh, 2x Sunken Hollow, and 2x Evolving Wilds. Radiant Flames for 3 is a beating against aggro, and we want to hit all three every time. The 4x Aether Hub supplement this as well, but we'd likely be running those anyways.
Aside from those we've got card advantage / filtering in Take Inventory and Anticipate. Earlier iterations of this did use Glimmer of Genius to great effect, but waiting until T4 to use it wasn't working well, and it didn't play well having two 4cmc cards competing for mana alongside Harness the Storm.
Ah, Harness the Storm. What a ridiculous junk rare, right?! I saw it and immediately fell in love. It's not fast, it does absolutely nothing to affect the board, and it can be taken down with literally any of the enchantment hate in the format. That's why we run two - not for redundancy (but on the rare occasion we get that, it's sweet) but because it adds another element of pressure to the deck.
We all know Dynavolt Tower is a thing. Especially alongside Harnessed Lightning. to nuke a 5 toughness creature? DONE. All day, EVERY day done.
Now toss in Harness the Storm - again, it's not a critical part of the deck, but it does draw more resources from the opponent. Do they nuke the Dynavolt Tower that's generating energy and eventually bolts? The Multiform Wonder that can swing in the air for 5 lifelink damage a turn? Or the Harness the Storm that's allowing for shenanigans like EoT Anticipate from hand, Anticipate from Graveyard, gain 4 ? Or Harnessed Lightning x2 for at least 6, 10 with a single tower on the board.
I mentioned earlier about cutting Glimmer of Genius in favor of the other 4cmc card. Flame Lash is that card. Simple, instant, either / or burn. for 4 damage. Possibly 4 damage and 2 or more, depending on our real estate developments.
I know this isn't a Tier 1 deck. It's probably not even Tier 2, but it is fun. I've been playing it on Cockatrice for a while and it's a blast when it starts working. Nothing says lovin' like casting 2x Anticipate on their end step, gaining 4 each, bolting for 3, then untapping and hitting them with 2x Incendiary Flow or Flame Lash for a win.
I've played around with Electrostatic Pummeler in place of Multiform Wonder, but didn't like it - I needed something with an occasionally massive ass on defense, and the Wonder fit the bill.
The 4x Incendiary Flow were a swap from Galvanic Bombardment. I'm not a huge fan of moving to sorcery speed, but the option to go to the head is another avenue for pressure on the opponent. The exile clause is just void-flavored icing on the cake there.
I'm genuinely intrigued to see if anyone is playing anything similar and found something I've missed / something that works better. Thanks for taking the time to read all this!
