would exchange Blood Moon for Dispatch in the sideboard ... Blood Moon is more a disadvantage for you than an advantage

So, basically Puerto rico 2012 Worlds robots, with Shrapnel Blast out and Thoughtcast added, 2 lands added and -Vault Skirge Arcbound Ravager , +2 Steel Overseer , and no Steelshaper's Gift ... changes the deck a bit, not sure I like thw addition of the lands or the overseers...

Oh and sideboard is same except you have no ancient grudge, but have Spell pierce

@ romearsen I never heard of that list, but I will check it out. (I didn't start playing this game until the release of Gatecrash, so I am woefully uninformed about older style decks). I arrived at this deck list mostly independently, a few suggestions from friends who had been playing longer than I filling in my gaps. I'll check out that deck list and see how my deck compares.

@ romearsen Thanks for the link, yeah it does look very similar. It's kind of funny, here I thought I was was on the verge of something relatively unique. I'm still happy with my deck list though, and I want to continue to improve upon it. Thanks for the link so I could compare notes though.

Oh not a problem, its a great deck. i actually have the Puerto Rico one together, and love it. I have a buddy who made one w blue, and it works well. The only thing is the red burn is what gives a bit of the edge to the red list. Ill talk with him on ideas that he uses

have you maybe thought about using Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas , Since you're using blue, he can drop T2

Thanks for the suggestion, I added him to the maybe list of cards to consider. I can definitely see the merit of using him.

I'm not generally a Pink Floyd fan, but I can't deny the awesomeness of that song. +1 for that and Robots

I'd consider swapping out your island for Shivan Reef or Steam Vents . I'd also recommend on doing your best to find room for another Glimmervoid . You generate a lot of colorless, which you can generally afford to, but the extra options for mana would definitely be helpful.

Lastly, have you considered putting 2x Dismember into the side? You could probably drop Torpor Orb for it.

TheGodofNight says... #14

@Unforgivn_II Thanks for the +1.

@Rootkit9208 The reason I put the Island in was for decks using Path to Exile , that way I could benefit from the spell, because Shivan Reef and Steam Vents won't work. I was at one point running 4 Glimmervoid , but I thinned out the land to get more creatures in, although, I have been considering thinning down 1 Blinkmoth Nexus in favor of a 4th Glimmervoid . I am looking a little removal for the sideboard, I was considering Dispatch , although, Dismember very easily could fill that slot too. I will consider that one as an alternative. Thanks for the suggestion.

In the fourth Paragraph, second sentence of your Deck Description it states

" I know that the sideboard is largely meta based, but I'm looking to Creature a very well-rounded and powerful sideboard, so any suggestions regarding sideboard construction would be appreciated."

I believe you want the word Creature to be create :)

Now for actual help. haha

The only thing I see is using Grafdigger's Cage in your sideboard to stop Birthing Pod and other things.

@ Magiclover318 I corrected the typo, thanks for catching that. Sometimes the fingers do something else and the eyes are paying attention, lol. What are your thoughts on Grafdigger's Cage vs Tormod's Crypt ? I've already decided to drop the Torpor Orb in lieu of something else, and some graveyard hate/seize seems like an ideal solution.

April 7, 2014 1:44 p.m.

Magiclover318 says... #17

Haha I totally get that :D No problem :D

I prefer both Grafdigger's Cage and Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard because they do help against two different decks.

Grafdiggers helps against any pod decks(and others, I just am unsure which)

Tormods helps with dealing with Tarmogoyf and storm decks.

I think you really only need 2 Skites for this deck, besides that I dig this version.

You seem to have gone the same path as me. I was "kind of" playing it on a budget and quickly realized I wanted to invest in it and bam here we are.

April 8, 2014 7:51 p.m.

TheGodofNight says... #19

@brassheart I was running only 2 Spellskite , but for some reason, I never see the things when I sideboard, so I thought since I received the 3rd one as a gift, that I'd give it a shot. I haven't had much play time with the 3rd one in yet, but I'll let you know how it handles. Yeah, it just hit me that I didn't just want to tinker with it, I wanted to actually play this deck seriously, yeah, "bam, here we are" indeed. Thanks for comment!

Just saying, for affinity you want at least one Wear / Tear and like three Ancient Grudge .
Wear / Tear - Deals with enchantments (like Stony Silence and Rest in Peace which deal with parts of your deck)
Ancient Grudge - So I heard you like winning the mirror... Also deals with stray Pithing Needle 's or Ratchet Bomb 's that may pop out of sideboards in lower tier decks, just depending who you're versing.

I like it. Also, nice Pink Floyd ref.

TheGodofNight says... #22

@ killkong1211 Those are some solid suggestions that I have been kicking around already. I've decided to just swap it out and give them a go in the sideboard to see how they do. I was in the air about Ancient Grudge be decided that the flashback on 2 of them would help me hit 4 artifacts on the mirror, which is probably more than enough to tilt the tables in my favor.

@ Lordslyver66 Thanks for noticing the reference, and I appreciate the +1.

For those following along, I have upon the numerous recommendations, decided to try out the Ancient Grudge s. I suspect that I won't find them incredibly useful except for a mirror match up. I also have decided that I want to use Mana Leak over Spell Pierce . Realistically, Spell Pierce would be more ideal for a control deck, but beyond the early game, it fizzles. I see Mana Leak making more of an impact later in a game, as well as in the early game.

I was also considering dropping one Thoughtcast in exchange for one Steelshaper's Gift . More often than not, while Thoughtcast gives me two cards for one spell, I find myself needing a specific card, and I think that's where Steelshaper's Gift would shine more. Well, that's all I have for now. Thanks to everyone for the support and the feedback.
