Thrun, the Last Troll is a beast. He'll flat out win u games. Rancor isn't typically played in this kind of deck but at the end of the day its Rancor it's always worth running IMO. I think 1 might be the right number. It's really easy to get 2-for-1'd using Rancor though. If they kill the creature your casting it on in response to u casting it, then u'll loose both the creature & Rancor.
I agree about Taplands being bad but sometimes u just have to let the good outweigh the bad. Bojuka Bog is slow & clunky, but it's pretty much an uncounterable way to destroy a cruise yard. So just think of it as a 1 mana investment. Also with it u may not need Relic of Progenitus which could free up some SB space.

That being said Id swap the Rancors for 2 more Abrupt Decay (IMO the best removal spell in modern, yes better than Path) & either a 3rd & 4th Seize or 3rd Seize & 3rd IoK (these come down to meta preference but usually 6 is a good starting number)
U could cut/SB 1x ScOoze for another Treasure Cruise or Phyrexian Arena. (Another reason to have more AD, in case u need to use 1 on the Arena)

APPLE01DOJ, Just wanna say you've been a lot of help guiding this build from pure aggro to favor some great mid-range qualities.
Same with Xiao.wen reminding me how good Bloodghast is.
Anyway, I swapped rancors for 2x AD, and made 3 of's of both Seize and IoK. Getting 2 for 1ed is more likely now that Vines of Vastwood are out. Sword of Light and Shadow can be the singleton "pump" that I can reuse if they try to kill my creature. It protects from Path, and I'm not worried about Burn. Most creatures in this deck regenerate or come back.
also moving 1x scOoze to SB for 1x PA. I'll have figure out if a second Treasure Cruise is better.

cavern of souls could be pretty powerful in this deck.

Right, I have it maybe boarded but I can't figure out what to take out. Maybe one swamp.

Swap 2 Tec Edges for 2 more fetches or 4th treetop and another filter or urborg 9 colorless is too much.

Would a 4th treetop and 1 fetch work out the same way?

Haha thanks. I'm just a fan of Golgari it's more skill based than other guilds.

I agree, besides the fact that they have the coolest cards and some of the scariest synergies in MtG haha.
I'm going to slowly put this deck together frequenting my game store. I've been also considering MtGO, This superior deck I can invest in without worries.

Hi, does the singleton Phyrexian Arena make a difference? I would honestly prefer a singleton Bloodgift Demon to a singleton Phyrexian Arena for the same static effect, even though it's more vulnerable, but it has more of an effect on the battlefield. especially since you won't see it often.

I see what you mean. They both have a similar effect and Demon is more vulnerable to removal and what not, but the difference between the Demon and Arena is I can target the Arena with Abrupt Decay if the life loss is eventually too overwhelming for me.
I am also play testing Treasure Cruise as a potential card draw.

I feel like a single Maelstrom Pulse is great for whatever Abrupt Decay can't hit. I dunno, it works for me in legacy.

Nice choice, I'll definitely consider it. Right now I'm not sure what I can remove.

I just made that change to my SB. Was using Naturalize but swapped it for 2x Maelstrom Pulse simply because while Naturalize is good and hits tons of shit, the slot is just too valuable and Maelstrom Pulse hits multiples when u need it (say for instance an opponent has 3x The Rack out) & can take out fatties that Abrupt Decay can't hit.

That makes sense, I can remove my 2x Deglamer for MP. Only because 'glamer solely helps with Wurmcoil Engine while MP can hit that and more.

If I was considering a play set of Confidant and 'Goyf, what would I remove? I guess Oona's Prowler is a candidate. Phyrexian Arena will be ousted for sure.

APPLE01DOJ says... #22
& actually it's common to still SB 1x Phyrexian Arena the card is still quite powerful.
December 29, 2014 7:55 p.m.
This is actually pretty good, but I would personally axe the single Arena for adding another sword for consistency and extra damages.
December 30, 2014 1:41 a.m.
anooshapalooza says... #24
It makes sense to pull out Arena in favor of consistency, but if I do I would probably still replace it with some form of card drawing just because I feel like this deck needs it ever since the slight decline of Dark Confidant. I will take it under consideration.

1 sword is the right number. I wouldn't drop the arena but if u were then I would say Sword of Fire and Ice would be the best choice of a 2nd Sword but without Bitterblossom ur better running 1 as they can often be hard to find a slot to cast without loosing tempo.
anooshapalooza says... #1
What do you think about Thrun, the Last Troll and Rancor? Maybe Phyrexian Arena and getting AD, Seize, or Kozilek turned into 4 of's would be a better choice?
