I felt the same. Those Lacerators can REALLY bring the heat almost immediately. How about 2x Vampire Nighthawk, 3x Vampire Lacerator, and 2x Viscera Seer? I HATE to lose another Nighthawk, but I also like the additional of extra 1 drop vamps with great ability...

Scratch that- I'm going to just stick to what you've set as the Main, and the sideboard I chose from your suggestions, and go from there. I'm excited to see how it does around here.

Just due to curiosity, why are you running Blackcleave Cliffs over Dragonskull Summit... granted, most of the reason I am looking at this change is to trim the budget a little, but is it that unlikely to draw into something to produce a "swamp" subtype? I have not play tested the deck, but seeing so many fetch lands leads me to believe you will find your sub typing fairly consistently

@squirrelbacon probably cause dragonskull summit won't be able to play stuff turn 1 and this deck has allot of 1 drops.

This past week, I spent a few days in Transylvania, including a stay near Vlad Tepes birthplace in Sighisoara... I brought the deck to soak in all of the cursed ancestral energy... We'll see how the supercharged Vamps play out this Friday.

If there were maindeck discard, I could get behind Blackcleave Cliffs as a 4x. Of course if this manabase gives you no trouble, don't change what isn't broken. I do think you have enough creatures to justify one more Cavern of Souls.

November 18, 2016 3:04 a.m.

Blackcleave is a 4-of because it has no real downside. This is the one deck I play where I can afford to be pretty conservative with my life total. A dual that comes out turn 1 with no life cost is a pretty sweet deal. I do own 2 caverns, I honestly am thinking about using both here.

If you don't add some discard, I would possibly see about fitting the additional Cavern of Souls. Cliffs is sweet but with 30 creatures, Cavern could easily act as a painless untap dual.

Oh a tip about using this deck, and why I've been reluctant to add another cavern: I need red sources for all of my removal barring Gatekeeper. And I need them fast. HOWEVER, something to keep in mind with this deck: it never needs more than 2 duals. The only times I typically even need 2 is either I have both bolts and terminates, or I drew Olivia. I'm not against the idea of 2 cavern at all, and tbh I think it works far better as a 2-of than any other number. But I find cliffs inconsistent at 3. I'd need to experiment.

I should mention: Cavern makes Gatekeeper an uncounterable removal that bypasses hexproof, protection, and indestructible; and has a 2/2 body that gets buffed by my lords. Again, there are a LOT of reasons he's the best card in the deck.

Maybe you could try switching a Blood Crypt for Cavern? Or cut a fetch.

November 18, 2016 12:44 p.m.

the crypt would be the logical choice. gonna have to run some tests.

Game 1: vs elvish aggroWas both 1-1 but game 3 he won it with collected company but was extremely close game he was at 1 life me 11

Game 2: vs B/W tokensAgain both went 1-1 but his removal really screwed the lords over Round 3 he cast Kalitas and I didn't pull any terminates whole game

Game 3: vs ValakutI was just simply murdered both with Valakut and his often casting of damnation (used some card to cast it from the deck based on the different land colors used)

Was overall fun, I sided in fulminator mage vs Valakut but didn't pull and didn't seem to matter since he just sacked his lands and pulled out 7 "mountain" lands

Was funny though: people know me as the affinity player and I used your vamps 2 months in a row to mix it up so they were scared to hell thinking I was using affinity this month was very fun though despite the losses

November 19, 2016 1:44 a.m.

you don't ever want to target a fetch with land hate. you target the problem lands; in this case valakut itself. A fetch can be cracked in response to removal.

November 19, 2016 2:53 a.m.

And tokens have a cmc of 0. You can boardwipe them for 2 mana with explosives/ratchet bomb.

November 19, 2016 2:54 a.m.

MagickedOne says... #22

I did side in engineered explosives but he didnt cast lingering souls rounds 2 and 3 for some reason lol and I didn't draw fulminator mage to be able to use it sadly, Valakut faster than I realized lol

November 19, 2016 3:05 a.m.

MagickedOne says... #23

He might've sided them out because turn 1 Stromkirk noble was kicking his ass lol

Meant to say round 1 not turn 1

November 19, 2016 3:08 a.m.

So, Happymaster, not changing the list on here, but when I get the chance I think I will see how 2 caverns goes.
