I decided to try out you guys' land suggestions. I kinda like it. If I went up to 24 lands I'd add a single swamp and a mountain. You know Blood Moon is not a bad mainboard card. Nor is Liliana of the Veil, she has fantastic synergy with Bloodghast and Kalitas, and gets better if you mainboard Asylum Visitor. I'm still weighing the option of swapping Lacerator for hand disruption.

YamishiTheWickedOne if you were to put hand disruptions would it be inquisition of kozilek or thoughtseize?

justinRO a mix of both. imo the ideal numbers are 3 IoK 2 thoughtseize.

I placed mine on sb cause i lack surgical extraction. Have u tried it yet on the main boar?

Surgical's a side card, not a mainboard one. But it's sideboard gold.

I found that 3 Thoughtseize were too many- with the fetching and shocking, losing 2 more life was uncomfortable at that number. 3 Inquisition of Kozilek, 2 Thoughtsieze, and I've tossed in 2 Duress on some play testing, which I like much better. I have since replaced the Duress with 2 Kolaghan's Command, and I REALLY like how it plays. I did remove the Vampire Lacerators, which, while I miss the FAST 2/2 attack, helps to balance out the Thoughtseize life cost. I found that these offer greater utility right out of the gate.
I have been tinkering A LOT with the original deck build, trying to fit in more hand disruption, a couple Dark Confidants, and a couple Liliana of the Veil, but haven't hit the mix where I feel that it is right. I've also changed out the Grafdigger's Cage and Pithing Needle for 2 Blood Moons, in the SB, but feel I need more basics swamps now... so the tinkering continues. I might remove the Surgical Extractions, or at least drop it down to a 1-of, to fit the Cage back in.

You only need a couple of Ravenous Traps
Take out and Explosives and a Dragons claw

Any chance Gifted Aetherborn is good enough to see play here? Lowering the curve might help a bit, and it synergizes well with Kalitas.

GeminiSpartanX yes, he is, I'm currently weighing how important Nighthawk's flying is, as it's often relevant in some matchups. Also debating whether Fatal Push is worth cutting bolt for or not. Maybe terminate, but then I like both here.

Fatal Push is a tempting card, but it reminds me very much of Tragic Slip. If you felt Push was applicable, would Tragic not be a relevant use of that slot? It can effectively hit Eldrazi creatures, whereas the other cannot. Albeit, under a condition.

Also, IMHO, I would rather disrupt hand on turn 2 and wait one more round to get out the Vampire Nighthawk, rather than bust out the 2 drop. To me, Gifted Aetherborn is something of an inferior nighthawk. But it is nice to see the new options available to the children of Cain!

You can probably do a 2/2 or 3/1 split of Fatal Push and Terminate respectively.

Oh, guys, in the future, can we all just agree to refer to Fatal Push as This is Sparta?

One thing to note is that This is Sparta is much more consistent in a 3 color deck because Fetches. This doesn't mean it's not incredible; just something to remember.
Also Vampenguin (is that acceptable) is very solid and double black isn't too hard to achieve for this deck. I'm not sure I'd cut all the Nighthawks, as they're great too.
(Still salty that Olivia's still in this deck but eh)

The thing with Olivia is lately I'm reluctant to play her without captain out. I can't make her immune to This Is Sparta, I do what I can to avoid bolt.

So my initial thoughts: with this structure of the build I'm MUCH more aggressive, a lot like when I first built the deck (I had 12 1 mana creatures and 10 lords at one point). The good thing about vamps is thanks to Captain Runo Motherfluffing Stromkirk, I can assume a defensive stance and hold up a solid pressure game.

I like the look of the changes you have made... although, I will be replacing the Lacerators with Aetherborn, while keeping the Nighthawks-
On a different note, I am currently trying to build a deck which will be functional in a 4 team, 2 per team, battle royal. The other decks involved are very creature heavy, so I am trying to have my part of the removal included, along with creature abilities which affect EVERY opponent. I am confident that I will be able to crack Lily's ultimate, every time she is out, so that will be nice to debilitate whomever I choose. Plus, Kalitas turns into a POWERHOUSE zombie engine with that many others involved. Please take a look, if you'd like. I would appreciate any and all input.

hows it go in the world of vampires!
i would suggest that with 8 fetches and 5 real (swamp/mountain) targets dose this potential triggers/ land targets? As for me, i found myself either running more crypts or even the new land smodering marsh. i really like the cavern direction over the full 4 mutavault too. Also blood moon hurts too, in my play group at least.
on the other hand i do like inquisition personally just to gain information.

Would like input on Gifted Aetherborn over Vampire Nighthawk and Fatal Push, also known as This is Sparta over Terminate.
February 20, 2017 4:11 p.m.
I feel like Gifted Aetherborn does enough against aggro decks. Flying is helpful but you probably want speed more.
Fatal Push is the bee's knees especially if you have a couple reliable sac outlets like Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Falkenrath Aristocrat, or Viscera Seer.
