Asylum Visitor can be amazing, but you have to build the deck to be hellbent.
Since it has a "second playset" in Blood Scrivener, and you can support it with cheap removal and a variety of discard outlets that were printed for the madness cards of shadows over innistrad, like: Call the Bloodline (which can net a token both on your own turn, and on your opponent's turn), Stromkirk Condemned, Heir of Falkenrath, or stuff like Sinister Concoction, or Soul Spike.

When you draw 2-3 cards every turn, getting rid of unwanted lands to keep hellbent is a bigger concern, than "unreasonable cost" of discarding for removal.

Still such deck play differently from tipical jund or grixis midrange, as they attempt to expend all resources (mana or cards in hand) every turn, instead of holding them for the opportunity to provide the most value.

Of the cards Xica mentioned, the only ones I like are Heir of Falkenrath and Stromkirk Condemned, but they only work in madness vamps, and this is tempo vamps.

Smuggler's Copter is a very interesting idea. I kind of like it even if it's off-tribe and conflicts with Nocturnus. It could be a budget Bob but I prefer to keep as much of the deck black as possible.

Seriously does anyone know how to tell the editing feature that no, I do not have a commander. It just won't go away.

Behind Nocturnus there might be a cmdr behind the card name tell it that's a commander card

I'm thinking of lowering Olivia to 1. I'd like to add 3 each of Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize but I don't know what I'd cut. I've trimmed most of my actual vamps to "just enough" portions already and my one-drop creatures are necessary.

I dig your deck I'm going to use some of the sideboard board for my vampire deck darkside and I'm also thinking about using the mutavaults if you could take a look at my deck and give me a touch of advice I'm only really losing to boardwipes and removal

August 4, 2017 8:42 a.m.

Thank you Whitelionq. If removal is hurting you, try mainboarding Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize. Side 2 Collective Brutality and maybe a backup Surgical Extraction. Bloodghast is used here because he's resilient to a lot of removal cards.

This deck is 100% SAVAGE!! I love the flavor and vampires have always been one of my favorite tribe's. +1 from me!

What do you think about the Bloodcrazed Paladin?? A 2 mana flash vamp??!

September 3, 2017 11 p.m.

I think he should have either been 1 mana or a 2/1. At best he's a counter side against boardwipe-heavy matchups. Not good enough on his own. Not great vs targeted removal. His only mainboard home is in the Viscera Seer + Bloodghast + Blood Artist/Kalastria Highborn engine, and that's less and less popular with time. Aristocrats is barely a thing to begin with.

September 4, 2017 7:08 a.m.

So Bloodcrazed Paladin is at best a sideboard card. His purpose is clearly to flash in after getting boardwiped.

So GeminiSpartanX asked a while back about how playable Gifted Aetherborn is here. I've replaced Vampire Lacerator with him because the life loss was too big a liability in the current meta. With Aetherborns my Burn matchup improves a bit but the deck loses a bit of speed. I dunno if I'll keep him forever but I feel he's better in current Modern. Gifted's a really good card. Deathtouch, lifelink and 2/3 body for 2 mana is no joke.

Speaking of new vamps, Sanctum Seeker could make it here as a one-of,but he'd be competing for space with a second Olivia. He doesn't give my creatures any more survivability like say Captain or Nocturnus, but he can make kills potentially much faster and he looks amazing on paper vs Burn.

You already have Gifted Aetherborn and Kalitas. Seeker wants you to go wider than this more midrangey build.

September 18, 2017 12:48 a.m.

You're probably right. I'm just looking at newer cards and ways of addressing common and/or problematic matchups. As mentioned the Aetherborns are purely a meta call. So are bloodghasts.

Is bloodmoon a bad matchupp for your deck? Even with all the red creature's you have?

October 1, 2017 5:58 p.m.

After recent tests, I've been finding there are matchups where I find myself in topdeck mode, so I feel like a few Asylum Visitors are a really good idea here, but the problem is space is currently pretty tight. Any ideas on what to cut, guys?

Arent you running Dark Confidant in some of your builds?

November 29, 2017 1:57 p.m.

I was but it's been a while and I realized that the life loss was kinda big and the meta's been shifting around, not sure exactly where I want my curve to be at right now and there are too many new vamps to choose from lately.
