I almost never use Olivia's "gimme" effect. Her burn and pump ability is far more relevant. Tapping 5 of my creatures is a very hefty price. If I have 5 creatures, there's a good chance I can just win the game anyway.

Bloodline keeper > vampire nocturnus. Why? Because it can win a game by itself. Have one in hand. Opponent plays Wrath of God. You're still in good shape. Besides. Probability wise you're looking at a fairly high 1/6 or so that the +3 ability won't work due to black not being on top.

How exactly am I in any better shape after a boardwipe with BK as opposed to Nocturnus? Let's not forget, the most popular deck in Modern right now is Jund, a deck that mainboards Abrupt Decay. And quite frankly, Nocturnus has been much more consistent after adding Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to the deck. I can sit on my fetches and just tap them for mana until I either really need that red source or I need to force a shuffle or hell, if I need to flash Bloodghast back into play.

this screams for inquisition and thoughtseize. yes, it is aggro. No, it is not aggro enough. Hand control just bites any problems. also, in my opinion falkenrath aristocrat is incredible here. it is explosive af. captivating vampire is also good in games that stop u from attacking. or especially if they have a platinum angel so you cant beat them to death with a stick. just some thoughts. In adition, my olivia never lasted long, and when I had the mana, i usually played more eficient threats. Happy blood sucking

Thoughtseize is in version 2. In the vanilla build there just wasn't space. Captivating and Aristocrat clog like you wouldn't believe. My curve doesn't like them. And Olivia wins games by herself, even if I have to hold her until I have a lord in play (captain is turn 3 so...) or just wait to turn 6 in control matchups so I can ping in response to a bolt. And Platinum is rare where I'm at. As in like, I haven't seen one in over 3 years.

For me, I see Jund, Affinity, Tron and Delver everywhere. And Where I'm at nobody runs platinum in Tron.

But yeah, I have a version 2 that runs Bob, Thoughtseize and Liliana (first two are both the original art and not the shitty reprints). That's the version that totally embraces midrange.

Mine is midrange. Can u check it out? Tour Through Transylvania

I like this. Unfortunately Vampires just don't have the support to be a tiered deck, but what you have here is arguably the best rogue deck I've ever seen for our tribe. I say that grudgingly because I have a Vampires list I've been trying to tone for years. Haha. I'm really hoping SoI gives us the push we need to go beast mode. +1 from me. Best of luck!

Just read some of you comments, if D-Sphere and O-Ring are your primary concerns, have you considered splashing white for Erase and other enchantment removal in the SB? Also gives you access to Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. I recommend him over Sorin, Solemn Visitor because he pluses into protection and nets you a permanent emblem the turn he comes down. I hope for SoI they gave us another vampire Lord at 3 mana... If they do I'm building fish... With Vampires. ;p

Honestly Azorius was a concern back when Ravnica 2 was new. I've kinda just learned to fight control better since then.

We're averaging one new good or at least interesting vampire per set at this point. Drana and Kalitas came back. INB4 new Olivia or Edgar Markov (Sorin's grandfather) becomes a card.

Oh, fun bit of lore: Stromkirk Captain, Vampire Nocturnus and Sengir Vampire actually have names. Runo, Vradeen and Yuri, respectively. Yes, Sengir vampire is named after something perverted if you're Japanese. And in person I refer to Stromkirk Captain as "Captain Runo Motherfluffing Stromkirk"

Hey, great deck, +1 upvoted! I have a similiar one B/R Vampire deck if you wanna check it out: Vampire Power

I've got to ask, why no Guul Draz Vampire? It seems relatively powerful in this kind of list, plus it's kind of like a mini goyf :)

I had her in here a few years back. She's just not worth the space. By the time she does anything I should be in a position to win with or without her.

I personally like Captivating Vampire. It is far better than olivia, in the buffer sense. it is like another 4 stromkirks that can also take over creatures
