What a tender young creature!

Standard* Aggro Netdeck RG (Gruul)

NeoHazard

Sideboard

Just recently completed my play set of Domri Rade and I figured what better way to celebrate that then build a deck around Gruul.

So I've got a list mostly comprised of the R/G list the BBD and CVM were running at Indianapolis however I've made a few changes. I added a Nylea, God of the Hunt and keeping a Gruul Charm in the sideboard.

I've taken it to a couple FNM as I've been changing it and testing different cards. I have to say I love casting Flesh / Blood I havent always been able to cast it on Bloodrushed Polukranos' but even when its been a Scavenging Ooze that swings for 6 it ends up being a nice surprise against most people. Nylea being Nylea (ie everything tramples now and she doesnt die) has won me a few games where they couldnt draw an answer, so I really feel she has a place in the deck.

I was worried before about Esper and control decks in general but after playing against a couple and not having many issues I'm far less worried about that now. Generally you just have too many threats for them to deal with them all. After side I normally run 10 planeswalkers against control, try to Hero's Downfall all of them. Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is in the sb 100% for control match up as he often reads opponent takes 6 and discards a removal card. I'm totally okay with that. Were I have had issues is with faster aggro decks. Decks that can board a lot of creatures are an issue for sure and might consider the inclusion of Anger of the Gods in the sb or something else Born has yet to bring us.

Overall I have been very happy with the deck and its play. And will likely be sticking to something close to this as Born of the Gods comes out.

Updates Add

So I've added a couple cards to the maybe board. Im thinking that I might look at swapping out Polukranos, World Eater for the Kalonian Hydra as I do plan to work Xenagos, God of Revels into the deck and the Hydra has natural trample. Also when cast with a Xenagos on the table its basically a one turn clock, It hits the table as a 4/4, Xenagos makes it 8/8 and has haste, it swings doubling its counters putting it at 12/12 with trample so some damage should get thru, If they dont answer it before your next turn its almost for sure lethal as it will be a 24/24 plus what ever else you drop on it, even if they can soak most of the damage a cast of Flesh / Blood and they will be out for sure. Its possible to get the Hydra to swing the first time as early as T4 which should mean a win on 5. Polukranos is still a good card and is better as removal but I feel that the trample aspect of the Hydra is going to be very strong.
