Sylvan Caryatid as an Hexproof, mana dork, walltacker?

Doran, the Siege Tower if you can manage to splash black somehow?

Hi Karzalar.

Was thinking of swapping the Wall of Roots for Sylvan Caryatid given the synergy with Worship. It's probably a worthwhile trade off at the cost of power and instant mana.

Doran is funky but won't allow my walls to attack so I'm going to pass on him this time.

Thanks for the feedback!

I love it, dude! Have you considered Vent Sentinel?

The7thBobba,

Thanks! Really appreciate the feedback. This deck has been my pet project for a while now. I gave Vent Sentinel a long hard thought when putting this together, but I feel I have enough win cons and it just isn't worth splashing the red for it. The curve is also a little high; I want to dump walls as fast as possible. I am still praying for a reprint of Wall of Blossoms which would make the setup absurd. Still trying to figure out whether I can squeeze a Staff of Domination into the mainboard as the third win-con and for infinite combo hilarity.

If you have an Umbral Mantle out with something like an Overgrown Battlement and a few other defenders you can have an infinite mana combo. Then you could throw in one of the Regal Force effects, (there's a lot of them, take your pick) for a cool combo to get a ton of your walls out in just a few turns.

Love it, I've got a kitchen table (budget) version much like this running Colossus of Akros as the win condition instead of Emrakul

Maybe Lifecrafter's Bestiary could be a nice, little addition for filter and draw?

might be worthwhile to have something like Comet Storm, Bonfire of the Damned, etc. some sort of fireball. i have a similar deck to this: Naya Walls Ramp Burn and i find that the burn-out win-con can double as removal as well, if your hitting a slow start or just have something like 7 mana or so instead of 30. i like Staff of Domination in the main as well, because with 1 of the dorks that add for each defender and at least 4 other creatures, its infinite. i think thats a worthwhile addition to the main. your deck is slightly different than mine, so to each his own on this one. cool deck though! +1

p.s. yeah definitely waiting on that Wall of Blossoms >_<

Kalladdin, great suggestion and one I also considered - but it's a redundant card unless I have a mana dork out and I feel the other walls warrant more of a place in the deck than the ability to go infinite (of which I don't have any means to abuse currently). I think Staff of Domination would serve a similar purpose for the same cost, but with more utility. Thanks for the idea!

Machival_, Awesome! Colossus of Akros is such a hilarious card to drop - just to see your opponents faces!

Karzalar, I actually didn't know that card! Great suggestion, but I don't know what I'd cut for it, and I feel the cantrip walls currently offer enough draw power. Cheers!

mr_funk, If I ever decide to splash red, then I'll definitely include some kind of fireball effect - even f just for the sideboard. Any ideas on what to cut for the single staff?

I would drop a Wall of Omens or Stalwart Shield-Bearers for the staff

Also, the benefit of Umbral Mantle is that it would cost one less defender to combo off for infinite mana, but you right that you don't need infinite mana if you have no way to utilize it.

To reach enough mana for tooth and nail you'll need a decent amount of defenders out. I used to run an infinite combo wall deck where I needed a good deal of walls out at any time, but it was very easy for my opponents to disrupt my board state. I would imagine your deck probably suffers the same way so it might be worth it to run 3 or 4 collected companies; my deck was dismantled before coco came out so I never got the chance to play it but I've always thought it would greatly accelerate a deck like this.

Livingham, my hope is that with 8 mana dorks, and the alternative win con of assault formation, I will still be able to outrace them even if they Fatal Push my battlement. Thankfully, unlike elves, it is also out of bolt range which helps immensely.

That being said, Collected Company is a great suggestion, and I'll play around with testing. I could potentially remove the Carven Caryatid for 3 of them.

Thanks a lot!

I feel you, most of the time the wall ramp is perfectly fine but you occasionally encounter the scenario where you only draw one axebane guardian or overgrown battlement all game, it's killed/exiled, and you have no way to ramp. Honestly, 4 collected companies is probably pushing it so I'd recommend trying 2 to start with just in case you need to fill the battlefield quickly.

Livingham, Collected Company is a brilliant addition. Leads to some insane surprises when you company into 2 mana dorks and Tooth and Nail out of nowhere the following turn. Awesome. I'm thinking of keeping three in the mainboard, but tossing up whether I should make it 4 and reduce one Tooth and Nail. Thanks for the advice!

Reminds me a lot of my EDH deck. Surprised you don't run Tree of Redemption.

I'm glad to help and it's great to hear that collected company works as well as I thought it would, I might end up rebuilding my deck now that I know that.

Rayze_Darr

Tree of redemption is a good card but I don't really think it has almost any use in modern, it's just too expensive and its ability isn't that useful.

April 18, 2017 4:02 p.m.

I'd strongly suggest moving a playset of Wall of Roots into the mainboard. It's better than you think, certainly better than I thought. If you have the money, you might want to run Blightsteel Colossus instead of Xenagod. I'd Also appreciate it if you checked out my deck: Emarkul.

April 27, 2017 9:17 p.m.

Karzalar says... #23

RomulusStrange ; I think why he keeps Xenagod as a one off is to trigger it with Emrakul, for the Tooth and Nail entwine.

Though, Blightsteel might be a good addition for him, just not in place of Xenagod.

Back on topic, maybe Cryptolith Rite to use walls as mana?

April 27, 2017 11:34 p.m.

foxinsox says... #24

RomulusStrange, as Karzalar stated, the Xenagos works with Emrakul and Tooth and Nail to provide an instant kill effect if the spell resolves. I had Wall of Roots in an earlier list but found that Sylvan Caryatid works better with the Worship in the sideboard and for mana fixing if that's ever necessary. Thanks for your suggestions though! I'd consider throwing a Blightsteel Colossus into the sideboard as a Summoning Trap target, but I don't have one at the moment.

Karzalar, nice idea - but there's no room for it. For every wall I remove, it's one less target for collected company and one less dork for the battlement. Cheers!
