Mono-Red Goblin aggro deck for casual play. This is based on the cards I have and ones I could find locally for a moderate price, plus a few I bought online. The idea is to quickly swarm the board with goblin tokens and a few cheap aggressive goblins, play things that synergize with going wide, then finish with a buffed mass attack and/or burn.
The sort of starting hand I want to see includes 2 or 3 lands and on-curve creature drops for the first 2 turns. A good example would be a
Foundry Street Denizen
and a
Mogg War Marshal
,
Dragon Fodder
, or
Krenko's Command
. Other worthwhile things as early drops would be
Impact Tremors
,
Quest for the Goblin Lord
, or
Throne of the God-Pharaoh
.
This deck is a variant (upgrade?) on my first mono-red goblin deck, Goblins 1.0.
This deck is still a work in progress. I'd like to make it a bit more consistent and bring its goldfishing speed down by about 1 turn. [This often brings the undefending "opponent" (goldfish) down to about 3 life on turn 4 and -10 or so on turn 5.]
Goblin Bushwhacker
and
Reckless Bushwhacker
each act as 2-drops most of the time, and the burn is not usually played early, so the deck needs a few more plays in the 1-drop slot.
As this deck currently stands, it's very vulnerable to first strike and double strike creatures. All the buffs in the main board are to power, not toughness, so even a 1/1 first striker can kill all but 2 creatures in the deck without dying. There are only 10 burn spells in the main board, and 5 of them involve sacrificing creatures, so a white weenie deck is pretty much 100% against this one. I need to work on the side board (and maybe the main) to gain a little resilience there.
Potential Changes
Out:
1x
Impact Tremors
- Pretty much useful only if dropped turn two, and even so we may have a better play.
1x
Quest for the Goblin Lord
- Pretty much useful only if dropped turn one or two. Great when it works though, and it's cheap.
1x
Goblin Lackey
- Great card and cheap, but a little thin on good targets since we don't want to cheat out any of the Bushwhackers. Good if we've sided in
Chieftains
, though.
In:
?x
Simian Spirit Guide
- Acceleration
1x
Mogg Fanatic
- Cheap and helps remove early blockers and utility creatures if needed.
2x
Mugging
- Serves as removal or evasion.
