My rules for making new EDH decks are unfortunately kinda constricting, but it's also a fun challenge. They dictate that I can make decks with popular commanders, but only if they completely deviate from that commander's normal strategies (for example, If Only Lorehold Apprentice was Legendary ), and if I'm not doing that, my commanders have to have fewer than 1000 decks on edhrec.com. This used to be a lot easier, but since EDH seems to have taken off so much recently, most of the world's commanders that combine both functional and interesting end up above the thousand mark. I also try not to build commanders from precons, because usually they're incredibly common and are hard to miss.

Enter Storvald. I mean, it definitely is from a precon. But, it is a unique strategy and somehow a pretty cheap deck compared to most of the other casual commander decks I own. It runs Prodigal Sorcerer, because somehow dealing one damage is enough to kill any of my opponents' creatures when paired with my commander. You get to threaten everyone with Cephalid Constable, which is hard to pull off but rewarding when you do. You get to draw seven cards over and over and over again. If you pop off really hard, you can win with Thassa's Oracle.

I'm pretty proud of this deck - I don't think Storvald necessarily has a high power level ceiling, but I do think I've built a list that's pretty darn good. It plays pretty smoothly and draws 30 cards out of nowhere sometimes. And most importantly, it's lots of fun to play.
