YamishiTheWickedOne, I am always glad to talk Edgar! <3

I have not gotten a hold of Three Tree City. (A lot of Bloomburrow left me cold, so I have pretty much avoided that set...) It does look amazing in Edgar, though, and in every Elf deck ever!

As for look at cards to switch out, how often do you find yourself using Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord's last ability? Because the lower your vampire curve, the less useful I have found him, as well as the fact he does not give you the token for a vampire he cheats into play. Maybe he could become a Patchwork Banner?

@Vessiliana sigh... Mana Crypt got banned. Now what? I'm thinking now turn 1 3 mana plays are less common, so my thinking was load up on low mana high value cards, vampires mostly.

YamishiTheWickedOne, definitely! One-drop vamps are Edgar's bread-and-butter. I myself like to run over 40 creatures for Edgar, and I am finally getting a hold of a Warleader's Call for mine, which is brilliant in a list with a lot of really cheap vamps. If you are leaning harder into the one-drops, then the damage-on-entry becomes even more effective, not only the Warleader's Call and Impact Tremors but even Purphoros, God of the Forge. It puts the opponents in a tight spot because those little guys have already hit them just by entering, then can swing with buffs, and even ping on their way out, whether through Goblin Bombardment or something like Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim.

@Vessiliana I'm tryng to find a good balance at this point. I feel like lots of small creatures need draw power so I think Wheel of Fortune should go back in. Sorin, Altar, Ripper and Citadel are the cards I'm on the fence about. I want to run the 1-drops that I know work in an aggressive Edgar build, those being Noble, Aristocrat, Neonate, Master of Dark rites, Denizen, Viscera Seer, and add back in Pit fighter, Changeling Outcast, and Cutthroat. I'm uncertain about Goblin Bombardment at this point but it plays well into the sacrifice aspect of the deck.

What would you do? more cheap footsoldiers or keep a few big wincons? And what changes would you make?

YamishiTheWickedOne, I would definitely add back in Wheel of Fortune, and yes, cut Sorin, the Altar, and the Ripper. Another thing to consider is the tutor suite. You run a lot of them. What are you tutoring for? Do you need that density of tutors? If not, those are some slots that could opened up. I run only a couple of tutors in my list, partially because I don't like to have too many tutors in any deck (just a personal building choice), but also because I mostly just wanted more draw. It does not really matter which cheap vampire I play, just that I play them often!

I would also consider cutting the Dark Ritualfoil, unless it serves some purpose beyond powering out Edgar faster. With the loss of Mana Crypt, I don't know if that is the direction to take?

You know, given the immense amount of backlash over the banning of mana crypt and jeweled lotus, I feel like I want to ask people I play with if we can just Rule 0 those cards back into legality. What do you think @Vessiliana?

YamishiTheWickedOne, that is a personal call. How regular is your play group? From my perspective, if I had a regular play group, then I would feel more comfortable asking about a rule zero to allow them back in. But if I am most often playing pick up games, then I would want a deck that I could be more confident in its acceptance and legality.

@Vessiliana honestly hard to say. I don't have terribly long on campus after class in terms of free time, got some but my ride is usually waiting for me. I just joined the card game club on Wednesday. They do more Yugioh than Magic but on the bright side they also play the formats I play, in both games. (I basically play 2005 and 2010 ygo and as a fan-driven movement these revival formats became officially recognized). And it's kinda rare for them to play something besides Commander which is fine with me, they killed vamps in Pioneer recently and current modern isn't to my liking compared to the glory days when the format was young.

YamishiTheWickedOne, ah the glory days of Commander, back when it was EDH...

I can understand wanting to stick to Commander, for sure. For me, I'd go with something commonly accepted then, considering that Magic is not their main jam.

@Vessiliana well I've been doing some testing and overloading on 1 mana creatures like I said makes me run out of cards in hand very fast. Also I just remembered I bought a Mana Vault when they were only like 40 bucks. It's hardcore copium and I really hope Crypt and Lotus come back due to the public outrage among both players and collectors. But I mean, I played a game last Wednesday where I dropped Bolas's Citadel on turn 2 with Vault + Dark Ritual. And yeah, you were right about some of the higher mana cards. Citadel is more often than not a turn 5-6 "I win" button.

Still, Outcast, Cuttrhoat and Pit Fighter are reliable 1-drops and if I had space they'd be back in.

YamishiTheWickedOne, from what I have been reading, I would not be sanguine about the return of the Crypt and Lotus. They seem to be aiming to maintain the status quo, at least for a good while, so that the death threats to the RC will not "win."

Regardless, I would aim more for keeping the curve low for the benefit of the Citadel! :)

@Vessiliana I'm noticing more and more that this was feeling inconsistent. I think it's time to up my land count. After fixing my mana base a little bit I functionally have 34 cards. There are a few things I REALLY want in here, between 3 other specific one-drops (Pit Fighter, Cutthroat and Outcast) and utility stuff like Phyrexian Altar and a handful of newer enchantments. This deck has power, it has speed, what it needs is consistency. I'm wondering if 34 lands is enough.

YamishiTheWickedOne, I would definitely up your land count by 2, straight off. 36 land is about as low as I would want to go in a deck that is not elfball.
