Also. I see you still have some space in your sideboard... Perhaps against aggro or creature heavy matchups you could include a full playset of Blind Obedience . The extort triggers might help with some life gain to keep full up with Erebos, God of the Dead 's draw abilities. (The plus of artifacts entering tapped is also relevant against other god weapons)

Sorry for commenting again lol.... but you might be able to use Pain Seer after their board is clear for more card advantage with the ability of Dark Confidant (Plus the two free damage is always welcomed)

Read the Bones isnt strictly better than Underworld Connections . One is for devotion and the other is not.

I specifically said in the description that I don't think it's better.
"I don't think it's necessarily "better" but I prefer it."

I see on an earlier update you mentioned Ultimate Price
and Doom Blade
, I have always prefered to use Go for the Throat
since it is way more versatil, appart from that i cant thhink of any other usefull thing to say

I agree that Go for the Throat is a more optimal removal than either of the other mentioned spells, but alas, it is not in standard so I have to make due without.

Drop Read the Bones add 4 Underworld Connections it gives a lot more cards in the long run

That's true but Read the Bones essentially lets me choose what I get out of my draws with the added scry effect, It's a preference but I assure you after I give it some tries if I find myself too often running out of steam I will put in Underworld Connections instead. If I were running Gray Merchant the choice would be a no brainer but since I'm not "devoted" enough ;-) there's room for alternatives. As I said though, I'll test it out at FNM and see if it's not enough draw power.

I would throw in Elixir of Immortality . It's a nice safety vs. milling.
April 3, 2014 9:56 p.m.
I have agree, Mill safety is nice... good for Sideboard
Suggestions -
-2 Doom Blade to Sideboard
+1 Ultimate Price to Mainboard
-1 Bile Blight to Sideboard
+2 Brimaz, King of Oreskos to Mainboard
+2 orzhov guild gate or +2Plains
-2 Swamp
a Spot for a Whip of Erebos or 2 could not hurt
April 4, 2014 11:04 a.m.
Also I would concur with wolfsokol
Underworld Connections would be a solid choice over Read the Bones .
April 4, 2014 11:06 a.m.
I like the idea but I suggest Obzedat, Ghost Council in the SB and if your running him I would suggest Whip of Erebos in Main board. Also if your not shy on money then 2 Archangel of Thune would be great.

You can take a look at my Deck. Orzhov Midrange Control

I own like 5 Archangel of Thune ... lol I could give her a run, when would I side in Obzedaddy, if at all?
April 6, 2014 12:59 p.m.
Control can't deal with him. I would say any game where its going to be a late game match up. Even if they some how get him off the field, whip can bring him back and his exile procs before whips exile so he continues to come back. Only way to deal with him is to some how exile him. Also Life link counts as an individual lifefain for each creature. Therefore 3 creatures with life link with Thune = 3(1+/1+) counters on each creature.
April 6, 2014 1:03 p.m.
But in all honesty its about preference, I go a more Midrange creature Orzhov over more kill spells.

@Aytonday : "Also Life link counts as an individual lifefain for each creature. Therefore 3 creatures with life link with Thune = 3(1+/1+) counters on each creature."
No. Attack damage is dealt simultaneously during the damage combat step, and so is counted life gain from lifelink. It is a single life gain from three sources. That makes it a single counter per creature, but that's still very good. It works with double strike and/or Aurelia, the Warleader though.
Multiple instances of extort would be very nice with Archangel of Thune .
April 9, 2014 6:33 a.m.
@lonewaer A creature with lifelink dealing combat damage is a single life-gaining event. For example, if two creatures you control with lifelink deal combat damage at the same time, Archangel of Thunes ability will trigger twice. However, if a single creature with lifelink deals combat damage to multiple creatures, players, and/or planeswalkers at the same time (perhaps because it has trample or was blocked by more than one creature), the ability will trigger only once.

This deck looks like it will be a bit different from what control brings to the table, which is awesome, they only problem I could see this deck having is an empty hand, so I would perhaps include Erebos, God of the Dead to maintain that card draw that is so critical for control to function properly. Read the Bones is nice, but with erebos, you can keep a full hand, espescially with the lifelink of Blood Baron of Vizkopa . +1 from me!
