For those with short attention spans like myself...
So... tell Me what this deck does
The deck works off of the infinite-mana combo generated from Vizier of Remedies and Devoted Druid. By turn 3, you can have all 25 creatures in the deck on the field, each with indestructible, haste, trample, flying, first strike, and vigilance.
But how is that possible?
Welcome Uncage the Menagerie. It's simple really. By turn 3, get Vizier of Remedies and Devoted Druid on the field, use Uncage the Menagerie where X = 8 and then go grab all 8 cards from the deck with converted mana cost 8. Then, play Vexing Scuttler to pull Uncage the Menagerie back into your hand with which you can cast it again, this time where X=2 to pull out Crashing Drawbridge and Duskwatch Recruiter
. from your hand play Duskwatch Recruiter
and with infinite mana, you can use him to search through the rest of your deck for as many creature cards as you'd like. Now begins the fun...
It is best to then place Beast Whisperer. He will give you card draw as you start to play more creatures. At this point there is no particular order to cast your creatures in, just start casting them so you can use Beast Whisperer's effect to draw cards so we can find Lightning Greaves (assuming you don't have them in your hand already). Once you have drawn Lightning Greaves, you now have a few different routes you can take, but generally I place them on Elvish Piper which I then use to summon Odric, Lunarch Marshal. His effect will give all of your creatures almost any keyword ability that your other creatures have at the beginning of combat. At this point, place the rest of the creatures you want from your hand to the playing field (if you haven't already), then equip Lightning Greaves onto Crashing Drawbridge to ensure that your opponent knows they are about to die as you tap Crashing Drawbridge, giving all your creatures haste (you actually don't need this last step because Odric, Lunarch Marshal will give haste to every creature since at least one creature will have will have Lightning Greaves equipped to it and one creature in the deck has haste... looking at you End-Raze Forerunners.)
Once all of your creatures are on the playing field, take a quick gander at your opponent's face and take in the moment as they realize that all hope for victory is lost and that they should just concede. Before they concede however, you should attack, just to ensure your victory... OR you could be more of a jerk and use Vizier of Remedies persist combo with Woodfall Primus + Carnage Altar to destroy every noncreature permanent (including land) that your opponent controls just to be extra positive sure that there is no counter or board wipe looming in the future. Then attack.
And there it is, you've won the game.
But Does it Really Work???
Yes. Yes it does. And from my experience, it works quite well and rather consistently too! Just make sure to pull off the combo ASAP.
But What if it Doesn't Work??
Weird Harvest is a back up to Uncage the Menagerie. Use it well. If needed, use Eladamri's Call, Weird Harvest, or Uncage the Menagerie to get your Vizier of Remedies and Devoted Druid combo out onto the playing field. 9 times out of 10, you will have something in your hand that will let you use their combo, whether its the full combo or not at least you will be able to pull large creatures out that have devastating effects. If you have the infinite mana combo on the field and have an Eladamri's Call in your hand, use it to pull Duskwatch Recruiter
so that you can play him and grab all the creature cards you would like out of your deck, essentially being a substitute for Uncage the Menagerie. If you just can't seem to get the combo out, Elvish Piper is a backup to play creature cards you want without paying the mana cost.
Well That Sounds Great and All... But What Are it's Weaknesses?
The only time I have had trouble with the deck is when I can't get white mana to play Vizier of Remedies. Proper mill decks, control decks, or burn decks could potentially put this deck down, but this deck is pretty resilient and as long as you can get the combo going and pull at least some big creatures out, it will still put up a fight.
Soooo..... What Else Should I know About This Deck?
There are a few cards that I put in there just for funsies, nothing too special. I added Carnage Altar purely for the fact that I can combo it with Vizier of Remedies and Woodfall Primus and to give some extra card draw if I do happen to get that combo out. Might help me find those Lightning Greaves, you never know!
The best part? This deck is pretty modular, so you can mix and match the creatures you like as long as they are colorless or green. Make it your own! I chose the creatures I did just because I enjoyed their synergy. Most of the cards aren't even crucial to the success of the deck (like Pathrazer of Ulamog and Worldspine Wurm), just as long as you can ensure total chaos by playing a TON of creatures onto the field and can attack in the same turn, the deck has fulfilled its purpose.
Thoughts? Opinions?
If any of this didn't make sense or you have ways to enhance the deck, please let me know. I am trying to keep it on a budget, floating around the $100 line.
