If it wasn't apparent, the goal of this deck is to mill all of your opponents out of the game. Phenax is a great commander for this deck as it allows all your creatures to effectively become recurring mill spells, and with creatures like Consuming Aberration, the more your opponents are milled, the more milling they'll have to do.

But this plan alone is too slow if you plan on winning. So, to supplement the rest of the deck, we have a couple infinite combos. The first is probably one of the more well known combos and that is Duskmantle Guildmage/Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank. Opponents lose life, they mill. Opponents mill, they lose life. Simple as that. I guess the main reason why this deck runs the Guildmage as opposed to the Ascension is for the extra milling value with Phenax for when the combo isn't quite ready, but the combo should still work the same with either.

The next infinite combo needs three cards to work: Cloud of Faeries, Deadeye Navigator, and Altar of the Brood/Sage's Row Denizen. The way this combo works is you soulbond the Navigator with the Cloud of Faeries and, if you have either the Altar or the Denizen on the field, infinitely blink it until all your opponents are out of cards. This combo can still work if you substitute the Cloud of Faeries with any blue creature that untaps lands on entering, like Peregrine Drake or Palinchron.

The final infinite combo actually involves our commander, Phenax. For this combo we need Illusionist's Bracers equipped to Tidewater Minion, Phenax on the field, and either another creature or Phenax's devotion to be online. Since we can tap any creature we control to mill thanks to Phenax, we can infinitely untap the creature with Tidewater Minion, since the ability doubles and it can target itself. Unfortunately this combo does not work with Fatestitcher as it can only target other permanents.

This deck can still use some upgrades, especially with the mana base I think, but regardless it's still a blast to play with and is definitely worth checking out if you want to try something new for your next EDH deck.
