I like dissipate more than counterflux unless you expect to be overloading it... against a combo or something? Id sideboard it for those mirror matches where youd expect to utilize its immunity to counters. Otherwise looks like a fairly balanced tempo deck with a good chunk of synergy.

There wasn't really a reason for Counterflux over any other counter, but the un-counterable part is cool and I feel like the overload could be used very infrequently but its gotta suck to have that cast against you to stop 2 or more spells. I may consider mainboarding Dissipate but for now I actually own 4 Counterflux so its in.

i think this deck is really good, but does Nivmagus Elemental exile your opponents spells? If so that is a sick card.

No just yours

You're only running 20 lands? That seems a bit risky. For control decks, I'd say you want at minimum 24... in the case of this deck, where everything is relatively cheap, you should aim for maybe 22-24.

Other than that, the deck seems pretty good. Nivmagus Elemental works well with Epic Experiment here, exiling any spells you don't want to cast (i.e. counterspells); otherwise, you could consider Blistercoil Weird .

Love the title of this deck; it is also really nice to look at.

I agree with Devia_Umbra in that I would run another land or two, since you have several "Do X things with X mana" cards. You might not necessarily need it, but I would do it if it was be, if for no other reason then to make myself feel better.

I dont want more than 21. I do run 4 Goblin Electromancer s so all my spells will be cheaper. It seems to work well with 20

I think of them as extra lands

Since there's more instants and sorceries you might want to add card:Runechanter's Pike to do some damage.

Very cool! +1

Where's the sideboard?

There are only 3 cards that can be affected by Goblin Electromancer , not worth it for me. Maybe a couple Talrand, Sky Summoner 's in his place and Unsummon ?

Remember, Goblin electromancer's effect only works on colorless mana. So it wont work on over half your cards. Also, I think maybe you should switch out those steam vents for a Izzet Guildgate

You must be joking? I would never ever switch those lands. You are insane sir.

And as for the Goblin Electromancer , even though it only takes 1 cost off of most of my spells, having multiples still benefits me to ensure I can frequently cast a 1 cost Searing Spear or Think Twice or even flash it back for only 1. then when the time comes, my Epic Experiment gets a free 2 or three to the X.

October 30, 2012 11:46 p.m.

im dead serious. Both tap for red or blue mana, you just don't have the option to pay two life. And I wouldn't suggest sacrificing two life when you have no way of gaining it back

October 30, 2012 11:48 p.m.

dont hold me to it, but i have been told by some people that the effect of Goblin Electromancer doesn't work on X cost manas

October 30, 2012 11:50 p.m.

BrokenZygoma says... #18

I will always take the option. You must not have played with them during their original hay day. That 2 life is well worth it. There's a reason the originals run 15-20$

October 30, 2012 11:50 p.m.

BrokenZygoma says... #19

And it does work on the X costs.

October 30, 2012 11:51 p.m.

No, I have played with lots of innistrad cards( the ones that started the 2 life cost) and I use that effect a lot, but only when I have a way of making up for that loss. 2 life is 1/10 of your health and can really make a difference in any game.

U should consider Curse of Bloodletting with guttersnipe it burns pretty bad and should be able to finish the game once its out.

October 30, 2012 11:54 p.m.

deckstack has a point

But that is way to expensive for this deck. If it didn't cost so damn much it would be great. But in order for it to be of any use I would need multiples and I'm not running more than one with this build.

@SamuelThrasher1996 shock lands have the point of a possibility to be able to tap, you don't have to pay two life and it makes sulfur falls be able to tap, this is an aggro deck and should NOT have lands that come in tapped, he needs to make all his drops and be able to counter spells and burn also using a shock land to play a delver then topdecking a thunderous wrath and get in for 8

October 31, 2012 5:54 a.m.

Arsene says... #25

The ONLY way that guildgates are better than shockland is that they are cheaper. If you're in a situation where you don't need the mana immediately then you can leave it tapped, or if you're in a crunch and can't afford the 2 life. Unless you're working on a budget, which I can respect but is a different scenario altogether, you have to go shockland every time.
