What to do with the Clues?

I want to do something neat with Tamiyo's Journal and Clues, but without the limitations of Standard.

The core is the combo of Tamiyo's Journal and Briarbridge Patrol's effects, allowing you to get any creature onto the battlefield from library.

A friend brought up Kuldotha Forgemaster as a potential synergy and Steel Hellkite to go with that, but I'm not sure where to go from there. Added some more Investigate cards and big guys that appeal (It That Betrays (side), Darksteel Colossus) but not sure where to go from here, especially for non-creature spells.

Also avoiding anything too expensive, probably max US$8 for either a 1-of feature card or a key playset, so no Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Blightsteel Colossus for me, much as I'd like to.

I feel like there's a lot of missing potential here because I don't know what cards exist to go with it, I'm sure there's all sorts of busted shit within this theme in Modern. I really need to find some more non-creature stuff to do, this board is incredibly non-interactive. I think it would just get run over by any sort of aggro if even a bit of the combo was off... and there's so much in Blue. Oh what to do, what to do.
