After watching SaffronOlive's video about a deck built around Torpor Orb, I decided it seemed like a fun card and I wanted to play it, but with red.
"... stops a creatures own enters-the-battlefield triggered abilities as well as other triggered abilities that would trigger when a creature enters the battlefield."
Orb Effects
Torpor Orb - Makes it so we can drop cheap fatties without the side effects!
Hushwing Gryff - Same effects as Torpor Orb but in the form of a 2/1 flier with flash.
Sundial of the Infinite - A fun card that can help us out if we don't have Torpor Orb or Hushwing Gryff out yet. You can end your own turn while
Eater of Days
' ability is on the stack! Also useful in ending the turn in response to our opponents' removal spells.
Creatures
Hushwing Gryff - Orb effects. Having flash and flying is a bonus.
Simian Spirit Guide - In here to try to drop
Eater of Days
on turn 3 so we can potentially win on turn 4.
Vexing Devil - Solid turn 1 play if we can't get Torpor Orb out.
Eater of Days
- 9/8 with flying and trample for 4.
Boldwyr Heavyweights
- 8/8 trample for 4.
Dust Elemental
- 6/6 flier with fear for 4.
Other Stuff
Lightning Bolt - Great for picking off early threats or damage reach.
Boros Charm - Extremely versatile in this deck. Reach damage, protects ALL of our permanents from destruction (which is great because we have a couple that are required for this deck to run properly), and double strike on a giant creature for the win.
Faith's Shield
- More protection for our important stuff, and potentially making our dudes unblockable.
Fling - Attack with a big creature, then sac it to win! Also nice in response to removal that we can't stop.
Lightning Greaves - Give our bros haste and shroud! Noice.
Buried Ruin - Recovers our Torpor Orb or
Eater of Days
if need be.
Turn 1 - Land, Simian Spirit Guide. Torpor Orb.
Turn 2 - Land, Simian Spirit Guide x2,
Eater of Days
.
Turn 3 - Land, swing with
Eater of Days
, Boros Charm for double strike (or cast Fling after damage), Lightning Bolt to face.
Ideally you'd have a
Faith's Shield
in hand too for protection. Also, if our opponent has been using fetch and shock lands the first couple turns, we might not even need to Lightning Bolt.
Don't look at me like that, it's possible!
I'm always looking for suggestions! Please feel free to comment.
