THE MISSION STATEMENT
The main idea of this deck revolves around 3 cards. Battle Brawler,
Blood-Cursed Knight
, and
Underworld Coinsmith
. This trinity combo also works with other cards as well. But these cards serve as an early game presence.
Late game answers come from Wingmate Roc,
Herald of Torment
, and Sigil of the Empty Throne, Which all can create powerful flyers in air.
This is deck isn't designed to be a constellation deck because cards like
Back to Nature
can really ruin me for as long as the Theros block is in standard. So I try not to make the deck 100% enchantment based.
Here is a detailed description of the deck
Athreos, God of Passage This card can help put pressure on your opponent. With a high creature count, using spot removal to destroy my creatures is like dealing with Thunderbreak Regent. And with the double mana symbols on most of the creature spells, it will make Athreos a creature a lot easier.
Battle Brawler A ton of white permanents in this deck makes it very easy for it become a 3/2 with first strike. A good answer to
Deathmist Raptor
.
Banishing Light Solid removal that is needed to get rid of planswalkers for the most part or annoying enchantments such as
Jeskai Ascendancy
.
Blood-Cursed Knight
This is now the core card in this deck. While there is plenty of Enchantments in this deck to enable the +1/+1 and lifelink, my favorite combo however with this card is Blood-Cursed Knight
+
Herald of Torment
. These two together make a whopping 7/6 flyer with lifelink!!!
Citadel Siege So how does this card work for this deck? Well you bestow like Hopeful Eidolon to your
Fabled Hero
but your opponent kills it with Hero's Downfall DAM. But you still keep the bestow creature and on your combat you get 2 +1/+1 counters on it to beef if it up a bit making this deck very resilient to removal.
Doomwake Giant
Dam you Hornet Queen! A solid body that is great to bestow things with and trigger constellation at the same time. A great deal I say.
Eidolon of Countless Battles
lots of auras and creatures in this deck. This can grow into a powerhouse if left unchecked.
Heliod, God of the Sun With more double white enchantments this time around, its very realistic to make this a creature and create lots of utility on the battlefield all at once.
Helm of the Gods not as awesome as Ethereal Armor but hey, at least you won't make 2 for 1 trade against removal which is something I would gladly accept in this deck. This card will have a constant presence on the battlefield and most decks won't always be prepared with artifact removal since they are most likely going to have enchantment removal.
Herald of Torment
there are so many ways to use this card. Sure you lose 1 life every upkeep but this deck has plenty of ways of gaining life so that isn't going to be a real big deal.
Hidden Dragonslayer A well rounded card that fits the deck nicely. Lifelink and removal are all welcomed in this deck.
Sigil of the Empty Throne This is pretty self explanatory. play enchantments, buff them even more with enchantments, and raise hell in the air with angels; lol at the Irony.
Spear of Heliod Makes Battle Brawler a 4/3 with first strike? Awesome. Makes
Blood-Cursed Knight
a 5/4 with lifelink? Awesome. Has a self built removal ability? Even better!
Starfield of Nyx Useful card for getting back enchantment creatures that died to removal or enchantments that were destroyed by enchantment removal. Can also end up being a game winner by animating enchantments and attacking with everything.
Underworld Coinsmith
I thought about this one for a while and I realize its ability is great for closing games. It also has great devotion as well, and enables Battle Brawler and
Blood-Cursed Knight
.
Ultimate Price great 2 mana removal to help kill quick threats on the board and for late game survival.
Utter End If my opponent have a mix of god cards, planswalkers, enchantments, artifacts, big creatures, then this provides a solution for all of those.
Side board options
Bile Blight Goblins and thopter tokens might cause a ruckus, but this should provide for a good solution
Duress great to use against decks that are not creature dependent. Specifically control decks and
Jeskai Ascendancy
combo decks that is.
Mastery of the Unseen This is my response for control decks because manifest is hard to deal with in slow match ups. Since manifest counts as a non-token creature, you can use it with conjunction with Athreos, God of Passage to make a bunch of cards go back to your hand or make your opponent pay 3 life for all those manifested creatures.
Palace Siege good for the grind match-ups when the board state is stalled and I need ways to get my opponent to 0 without attacking. Also provides extra resilience against control decks with the Khans effect.
Surge of Righteousness
Very important to side in against mono-red decks. Their presence is overwhelming for this deck to handle and we need them to run out of gas before we make a move for this deck.
Valorous Stance Incredible value in this card. Most of the time, you want to use removal on big creatures. If your opponent doesn't have creatures, then it can used in anticipation of removal spells.
Wingmate Roc This is part of the win-con for this deck because these birds can get a lot of damage in the air. The 4 toughness is important too as most burn spells do 3 damage with the exception of
Stoke the Flames
. It also takes 2 spot removal spells to take care of both of them which puts you at card advantage.
