Orzhov Charm . . . what is the idea for this deck?

December 25, 2013 11:58 p.m.

Matador says... #3

Orzhov Charm can be used to Bounce back a creature from removal or save an enchantment aura from Destructive Revelry . Right now the Goal of this deck is buff up creatures using enchantments and using Ethereal Armor as a means of making a small creature real big. But right now removal seems to be my biggest weakness for this deck.

Fiendslayer Paladin Is a very underrated card after theros becuse of he has protection from Doom Blade Lightning Strike Magma Jet and lots of other

Fiendslayer Paladin is a good card but I feel its a bit redundant with both Ethereal Armor and Gift of Orzhova . But ya a possible side card if it ever comes to that situation.

Hey man, I've got a deck with the same idea and colours that I've been toying around with. It has been doing pretty well so far. It's called "Enchantment Crazy" and is on my profile. Take a look if you'd like!

I would side Dark Betrayal over Ultimate Price if you are siding it for black only.

My mistake. I posted before I looked at your new build. -1 to me for not paying attention.

No Elauron I'd actually just switched it right now because of you. I actually needed some good answers for mono black decks.

It still doesn't look like you have any good answers for MB

Have you considered using Ordeal of Heliod or Ordeal of Erebos ? Using those on Hero of Iroas or any of your creatures would be great. Since you're trying to counter play people as well, Boon of Erebos maybe be something to look into as well. +1 from me.

oracletext Boon of Erebos is a neat idea. I like 2 for 1 trades when I cast it on Agent of the Fates for example. The ordeals are nice too but im really scared about removal because with non-bestow enchantment aura, its really easy to get a card disadvantage. But if i can trigger the ordeals on time then it would be to my advantage.

So basically you use bestows to trigger all your heroics? Interesting Idea.....nice. Could be expensive though on mana. What about adding Liliana of the Dark Realms or Crypt Ghast for more mana for those big bestows? Especially with alot of them like Ghostblade Eidolon only needing 1 W, so you could easily get the rest from swamps.

phaze08 I notice that most of the time that Hero of Iroas helps greatly with the bestow cost. Getting to 4-5 lands isn't terribly difficult for bestowing after doing some play test runs. Crypt Ghast can work great for Underworld Coinsmith however, you need the W for cost as well.

Playing with bestow creatures adds a lot of flexibility in how you want to play them. For example, you can play Ghostblade Eidolon first, then play Eidolon of Countless Battles right after or you can play them in the reverse order.

Grisly Transformation feels pretty weak, i would max out on ordeals. or if you want to draw cards try Scourgemark

June 26, 2014 6:54 p.m.

Matador says... #20

Grisly Transformation isn't always reliable I'll admit, but having a white creature with intimidate is very unconventional and most players won't even expect it either. Heck sometimes its my win con for duels I have played. But if I am playing against another B/W deck, then I will definitely side them out

an interesting card to consider if you like intimidate would be Mogis's Marauder . although it wont give everything intimidate it can give it to a few while also being a 2/2 haste.

ownageban good idea I will try to test it out and see what I can do about it.

Awesome deck, upvote from me! I'm thinking about doing something in the Orzhov-Theme as well and this is pretty inspiring. :-)

Great and detailed description as well, thumbs up for that!

Though I think you have a little mistake in the synergy between Ghostblade Eidolon and Spiteful Returned - the life-loss triggers when you attack (declare attackers step), not when you deal damage (and that's what double-strike does - a second combat damage step).

Matador says... #24

@regnitteo I thought it was the same concept for the Ordeal of Heliod type of cards. You give it to like Fabled Hero for example and it triggers twice giving it 2 +1/+1 counters because I thought with double strike I thought you get a first strike attack and a normal attack making 2 attacks? If that isn't the case then I shouldn't really bother with the combo then.

August 6, 2014 5:19 p.m.

regnitteo says... #25

Fabled Hero gets another counter once, because of his heroic-ability triggers the moment you target him with the Ordeal of Heliod or any other spell. The whenever enchanted creature attacks trigger goes on the stack in the declare attackers step. To get this step twice, you'd need a whole second combat phase and this doesn't happen with double-strike. It's just another combat damage step.
