Modern* Control Faeries Tribal UB (Dimir)

Sideboard

Welcome to the filth that is fae

Today you will see the disgustingness of U/B fae and how you can win with it. You can win with two ways with this deck:

  1. Controlling the hell out of the board and beating the opponent down with your creatures and

  2. Giving your opponents an aneurism.

I separated the deck into 3 piles, supporting cards and wincons. Their sort of is a gray area, but we'll get there

Supporting Cards

Let's get the obvious things out of the way. Supporting cards are cards that help you win, they rarely take the game, but they are vital to your strategy. An example might be Remand, because of the counterspell.(you get a sweet draw too!) The supporting cards in this deck are: Fatal Push, Tragic Slip, Inquisition of Kozilek, Jace Beleren, Mana Leak, Smuggler's Copter, Spellstutter Sprite, Thoughtseize, Void Snare and Vendilion Clique. The counterspells are essential to this deck, and the Jace Beleren, Smuggler's Copter, Cryptic Command, and Remand are essential because of the card draw. I like to play hand control with Inquisition of Kozilek, Vendilion Clique, and Thoughtseize because hand control rules.(Plus-you get no card disadvantage since I am making them discard too!)

The in-between parts

This section is for the cards that can win you the game, but usually not on its own. These cards are: Scion of Oona, Vendilion Clique, and Smuggler's Copter. The cards are here because of the flying 3 damage, and Scion of Oona buffing and giving all of your other faeries shroud.

WinCons

The cards in this list are usually the cards that win you the game. The cards are: Batterskull(vigilance AND lifelink? also the massive stat buffs can easily make this a large threat), Bitterblossom(these faeries can take the game easily, however, there is a risk associated with this card), Oona, Queen of the Fae(oona is great against mono-colored decks), and Scion of Oona.

Tips

  1. Use most of your fae(because of flash) during your opponents upkeeps/draw steps. This is when they are usually most vulnerable.

  2. Although this is an obvious tip, always save some Bitterblossom faeries as blockers. Unless they have creatures with trample. I hate trample.

  3. Blue is all about mind games! Sometimes, just to mess with the opponent, after they cast a spell, I tap some mana, almost play a card, and murmur to myself "no...not now..." so they think that you have a counterspell. It's obvious, but it's always a fun thing to do.

  4. You usually want to mulligan until you have Bitterblossom. Do this unless you have a great hand.

  5. You can Vendilion Clique yourself to remove an unwanted card and draw another.

That's all folks! Wreck some nubs and give your friends anxiety attacks while casting any spell!
