Is Nightmare Lash a viable option here? The equip cost is one life cheaper, and if I understand this deck right, you're really not using the Lashwrithe's living weapon ability.

Mabey cut 2x Lashwrithe for 2x Hand of the Praetors ?

June 16, 2015 12:01 p.m.

DH_Cell says... #5

Hey HydraOoze, I dont think so! With one hit, any creature equipped with lashweithe can finish the game, and Hand of the Praetors needs too much mana, dies to bolt and relies on drawing more creatures (I only have 12 MD), so, it does not fit on my deck :)

Hey Scorprix theorically, yes. But in practise, no. I wouldnt be able to equip Lashwrithe, the Swords, to cast Funeral Charm or Undying Evil on my dudes :/

Just a personal preference, but I find Leyline of the Void to be a better choice than Grafdigger's Cage, since it stops living end, dredge, and delve in addition to snapcasters and past in flames

Quicksilver says... #9

I'm curious as to how fast this deck takes to win. Any longer than 4 turns would be bad. Secondly, perhaps Grasp of Darkness over Victim of Night?

October 20, 2015 4:54 a.m.

DH_Cell says... #10

Hey Akamatsu, maybe better, maybe not, Grafdigger's Cage stops collect company decks, and Leyline of the Void is only good on the opening hand, but if it does, it is better for sure :)

Quicksilver, they say that modern is a 4 turn format, but u cannot take it literally. It is not a aggro deck, it is more to a midrange/control deck. It can win turn 4, with a Plague Stinger, any sword and Lashwrithe. It is more stable than traditional UG Infect, but much more slower.

No gods, just the 3 Titans aid me. +1

DH_Cell says... #12

Hey Leo7 thx :)

And Quicksilver, about Grasp of Darkness, Dismember is better because of the flexible cost and it kills Rhino, and Victim of Night kills anything basically :p

This is a great build in general; I really like what you have. The only suggestion I have to make this even better is to add 4x Inkmoth Nexus and perhaps a few Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to offset the colorless limitation. I know you mentioned that the card's exclusion is a budget decision, but it is by far the BEST INFECT CARD in the game.

DH_Cell says... #14

Hey tchau204! Thx for the feedback. I agree with u, but the main reason is that my buffs are equips, not instants. Anyway, the Inkmoth Nexus could hit just like Plague Stinger, so I hope it will get a reprint soon enough :p

tchau204 says... #15

Well, I don't know what the issue is - you could still equip it during the main phase after animating the Inkmoth Nexus. I mean it's not mana efficient if you do that every turn, which is perhaps what you're pointing out, but at least you have the option! They serve as an additional win-condition, can be used to push through the final bits of damage to win the game, and are useful in the event that you flood with lands. Again though, I totally understand that it's an expensive card - for your sake, I hope it gets reprinted like Blinkmoth Nexus did!

Lashwrithe is far too slow, I know from previous comments that you value it but compared to green its practically standing still, green has access to +4 +4 with Groundswell for 1 mana and you don't need to equip it for life... Blue has access to Ensoul Artifact for +5 +5 enchant on turn 3 for Ichorclaw Myr or any other artifact infect creature. Plus being mono black means you're just gonna have to accept any removal that comes your way. Check out my mono-blue infect deck here Yeah.. That's infected.

Hey Ohana. First of all, it is a monoblack infect deck, so it is impossible to run Groundswell, Ensoul Artifact and so on. Yes, Groundswell can give +4 +4 at instant speed, but if ur dude eats a removal, u lose both. Lashwrithe is a body, at least a 4/4. Ive won several games beating down on life, not by infect. And even if my creature dies to removal, I can cast another and still equip. This is the idea of the deck, it has a different philosophy from UG infect, mixing equips and instant pump.

Ohana says... #18

It has a different, lesser in every way, philosophy. Lashwrithe is a turn 4 AT BEST for you. Most infect decks in modern have the potential to end the game turn 3 or 4, and when they see your decks "star" is equipment they just side board in some artifact hate (which modern is full of) and you have nada. There are some cards that I think are worth playing B infect for but lashwrithe is too slow to be one of them. I mentioned the other colors because in my opinion, you should splash them into this deck.

DH_Cell says... #19

Ohana well, I understand ur point, u re not wrong. But, again, this is not a extreamly fast deck, not even close to UG. I have lots of removal, discard and even boardwipe. I would say this is a midrange deck. Well, the good side of it is that if my opponent removal my dude, I dont lose the game just as in UG version. If you want to see a splashed version, filter ur search for it, here u will find ONLY cards for mono black :)

Ohana says... #20

I see where you're coming from, but any B splashed infect deck has removal... and UG doesnt lose at first creature death, it just plays a new one.

Great deck! Just curious if you have made any changes since your last update. Thinking of building this deck and was curious if any changes you were trying have made it better or worse?

Hey mashtatties! Im still waiting a bit more to see what the meta will look like after the ban, like Slaughter Pact not being more thaaat necessary MB after Twin has gone. Are u trying to keep it budget or not? If u are, the most expensive card u should buy is the set of Phyrexian Crusader. The discard was not used to be expensive, but with the raise of the new Eldrazi it spiked. The budget is fine and run smoothly. If u have more money and want a real winner deck, go to GB or UG infect, that is a Tier 1 :)

Thanks for the help. there really is no budget for me. I will try to find a good GB infect deck them.
