Heres my take on trying to make Misthollow Griffin usable, for a forum discussion here.

The idea is to abuse Misthollow Griffin's ability to be cast from exile. Cards like Gloom Surgeon, Memoricide and Surgical Extraction help put them into exile.

Gloom Surgeon also doubles as a chump blocker and beater as well as fuel for the Griffin.

If Misthollow Griffin would end up in a graveyard, cards like Nihil Spellbomb, Cemetery Reaper and Havengul Runebinder can exile it, and the latter can provide benefit in doing so.

Swiftfoot Boots and Mask of Avacyn for protection on Gloom Surgeon or any other creature you control.
