Not much "Rush" to it. more midrange, and less agro I'd say. I think you could use one or two Cord of Calling. you could instant speed search up a cheap creature to make it better. also Boon satyr is instant as well.

I really like this deck, but maybe add Nemesis of Mortals ?

I like Boon Satyr as an option, since it meshes well with Doomwake Giant and Eidolon of Blossoms , and the one thing this deck is lacking is a nice trick here and there. Once I get a chance to test it out I'll see how well they fit. Might make it into the sideboard, at least.

Didn't have to deal with board wipe spells, but two of my opponents were runing 4x Perilous Vault. Thinking of putting a few Reclamation Sage in the sideboard to help deal with those. It's kind of tough to come back after a wipe, let alone two or three in a single game!

Creakwood Liege would work well in this deck.

Trying to keep this Standard legal, so while that would be a neat addition, can't really fit in in the deck.

Before this week's FNM I want to figure out a way to handle artifacts like Perilous Vault. Reclamation Sage is nice because it's a creature and would work with See the Unwritten, but I'm wondering whether it would be easier to just sideboard in a few Naturalize instead?

Fade into Antiquity would be a good side board option, it'll handle gods as well as that damn vault, Naturalize, Reclamation Sage, and Unravel the Aether are all good cards to deal with the artifact bullshit in standard right now.

Still not completely sold one way or the other on the Naturalize vs. Reclamation Sage conundrum. On the one hand, having my removal as an instant means that I can sneak it in there before the control decks have the mana to respond. On the other, Reclamation Sage can be found using See the Unwritten, and leaves me with a blocker afterward. I suppose it's entirely situational which one I'd want to use, but there's no way I'm having two or three copies of both in my sideboard just to cover all my bases.

I need to remember that this deck either "hits" with its initial draw, or there's a high probability that I'll lose. Basically, I need at least one big bad to cast and enough land/ramp to get him out by turn 3-4. That means 2-4 land, 1-3 ramp (preferably both an Elvish Mystic T1 and a Sylvan Caryatid for T2), one of Polukranos, World Eater, Doomwake Giant, or Arbor Colossus for T3-4, and ideally a single copy of See the Unwritten for my last play. If I don't have all of that (StU is optional) in my opening hand, I need to mulligan. There have been times when I've managed to draw a critical ramp card on T2, or luck out and scry my way to land on T3 or T4, but more often than not I don't luck out.

Looks like a nice deck! I would probably fit some Genesis Hydras in there, maybe at the price of one or more of your See the Unwrittens. Admittedly I haven't tested out See the Unwritten before, but Genesis Hydra seems like it would be less clunky then it. Genesis Hydra can fizzle out, but it also has gotten me some very good value, as well as also grabbing noncreature cards. Also I could see the new G/B Garruk being good in here as an alternate finisher, probably as a one-of. Hornet Queen is very nice and all, but you can't argue with a 4/4 deathtouch beast every turn.

I have a take on mono green devotion, where I splash white. Feel free to take a look: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/a-very-plain-forest-now-with-sideboard/

Wondering if Kruphix's Insight would be a worthwhile trade for Commune with the Gods? Digging six deep instead of five, and the ability to pick out up to three enchantments instead of just one creature or enchantment is nice. The only thing(s) I wouldn't be able to grab are the queen, a caryatid, and a satyr (plus the Arbor Colossus if they've been boarded in).

I would ditch the murderous cut for all heroes downfalls.. Delving isnt bad but if youre exiling creatures before you can use your whip then its pointless.

I think it's situational. There are usually enough lands and ramp creatures in the graveyard through See the Unwritten and Commune with the Gods and Satyr Wayfinder to feed delve without putting my creatures at risk, but you've got a fair point. I wouldn't want to delve on turn 3-4 if I've got good whip targets in my graveyard.

Murderous Cut just feels too clunky to be worth the effect when youre already running Hero's Downfall other than that its a great deck +1

Wondering about putting a few copies of Erebos, God of the Dead in the sideboard for mirror matchups. Prevents my opponent's lifegain and gives me an additional means to draw cards. Gonna play this deck tonight and I'll see how I feel about it.

December 29, 2014 4:50 p.m.

Erebos combos well with the whip and the hand advantage is a must have in the main board plus if you can get the devotion up he's an invaluable asset as a creature

Might dump the Nyx Weavers, since they're very situational. They help fill my graveyard, and I can grab a card from my graveyard, but they're not a big enough threat to really be useful. Might try Master of the Feast or Herald of Torment, which would provide some much needed early threat. Otherwise, I'm basically waiting until turn 4-5 to do anything.

sooo, See the Unwritten is totally gone with the update?

mentor6 - Not quite sure yet. I put in 1x Erebos, God of the Dead and 3x Master of the Feast to hopefully speed up the deck a little bit and had to remove a couple of things. I like See the Unwritten (especially when I can hit ferocious) but it's best when used against other midrange decks. I can probably leave them in mainboard and make some room in my sideboard to remove them. Maybe I don't need Stain the Mind? What sort of defense should I try and put up against UB control?

I have been playing a deck similar to yours and every week at my local shop I play the UB control you're speaking of, and I can't beat it. I try adding in Brain Maggot to remove some counterspells, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Perilous Vault, or Pearl Lake Ancient. The main problem I have had is if I don't get good ramp to begin the game I've pretty much lost, and if they hit an Ashiok on the turn three it's just cruise control from there on out, and countering anything I attempt. Feel free to offer suggestions or comments on the decks I have created. Lastly, how do you do against Jeski tokens? That's another deck I lose against due to speed.

Have you thought about Boon Satyr? 4/2 with flash and is a enchantment
