The idea is Dump & Pump. Dump a lot of soldier tokens on the field and pump them up before they can be easily dealt with.

Disclaimer

I've only been playing mtg for a little while. So if I've made any grave errors or claimed any falsities, please let me know and I'll make amends.

This is a work in progress

This deck isn't even built/tested yet. I am sort of waiting until Khans comes out to see if there are any cards to fill it out.

Please let me know what you think of the Dump & Pump Express and how you might improve it! Thanks in advanced!

First and foremost

I'm wondering if I should find space for a few more land. I'm not sure if 20 is a bit low if I'm wanting to get a 6 drop Elspeth, Sun's Champion out on a regular basis. Even though she's the only non-convoker at 5 cost or higher. Please discuss.

Explanations

The main board is mainly cheap creatures that provide utility.

Aegis of the Gods is a cheap drop that provides nice protection.

Ajani's Pridemate + Nyx-Fleece Ram work together well, and the sheep provides protection from other weenies.

Soldier of the Pantheon is just all around good, and also procs the pridemate.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos is just too good. Provides soldier tokens and has vigilance. Only 2 because he's legendary.

Seraph of the Masses can be convoked in with your tokens, and could provide a nice big flying threat when your deck is set up. But I realize it's not a soldier, and could potentially be replaced.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Ajani Steadfast have lots of fun tricks together when you get them both out. But their main purposes are dump and pump, respectively.

Launch the Fleet + Raise the Alarm are great, cheap dump.

Spear of Heliod and Hall of Triumph serve effectively the same purpose, and both are legendary, so I went with one of each so you could stack them in the case where you had them both.

Obelisk of Urd is beautiful. Not legendary, so it can stack with itself. Gives double the pump of Spear and Hall, and can be convoked in much earlier than turn 6. I'm considering running 2 more of these in place of Spear and Hall, but I'd want to test it first.

Banishing Light is standard white removal for big problems.

Return to the Ranks gets your dudes back, but it won't get back any lost tokens. It's possible a more effective card could go in this one's place, but I haven't found one yet.

Most of the sideboard is more situational removal. And it's obviously incomplete, so any suggestions are welcome.

Exclusions

Preeminent Captain is just too expensive for what he does. The fastest he can attack is turn 4, and the rest of my creatures are small enough to be dropped on their own. The only real synergy he has in this deck is with Brimaz, King of Oreskos. If I tried to work in Paragon of New Dawns or Archetype of Courage or other more expensive soldiers, then he'd be better.

Phalanx Leader is good pump, but is only triggered by Launch the Fleet, so I left him out.

God-Favored General was a close toss up between him and Ajani's Pridemate. The cat had more synergy with the other creatures, and the deck has plenty of other dump.
