People need to explore more tribes of MTG. All day we hear "Modern is boring, its been cracked". Far from it. I love when I see decks like this. Soldier tribe is strong. Have you thought in the future of going W/R and splashing for some of the great red soldier cards from the RTR block? And have you considered Soldier of the Pantheon?

I actually have 2 whole separate W/R soldier decks, one Heroic and another Boros. Soldier of the Pantheon is an interesting card, he is great in multicolored meta, I even considered him, but not that many people in my meta utilize multicolored, infact, I believe I am the only one who fully goes multi colored in some of my decks, only a few others do..and even then it's only a few cards. He is more of a sideboard creature all things considered.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Leonin Arbiter can utterly wreck some modern decks.

I like that Thalia too, but sadly it adversely affects me too. And the Cat Cleric doesn't run with this deck at all.

consider about Champion of the Parish he may become really powerfull

January 25, 2017 7:22 a.m.

@babos86 , I don't know whethere other people can see the change-log but originally champion of the parish was infact in the deck. But once I started throwing in kithkins and the dwarf and loxodon, he became very redundant because he barely acquired anymore counters due to a lack of other humans besides the lords.

Smuggler's Copter had been great for my soldiers. :)

I thought of those, but then I noticed that Odric doesn't copy Shroud for my other creatures.

I might run 1 of both tho, see what happens.

Play Thalia, Heretic Cathar over the Loxodon Gatekeeper

April 1, 2017 6:30 p.m.

I did at first, but the Loxodon just works better overall.

Interesting Deck.

But it seems the fundamental core is confused. Are you going for white pillowfort with Loxodon Gatekeeper and Ghostly Prison or are you going for Soldier synergy with Field Marshal and Ballyrush Banneret

Because if you're going for more Pillowfort, I don't know why Elspeth, Sun's Champion isn't here with her Soldier Synergy and incredible -3

But if you want more soldier, why not Veteran Swordsmith? It's pretty cheap and gets your point of beefier soldiers, while staying in your budget theme.

I like the deck though, it's fun!

Loxodon Gatekeeper is there to give me time, it slows down the enemy significantly. There are a lot of Token decks and like 3 Tron's in my LGS and Loxodon Gatekeeper screws them over good, and thus far has done it's job extremely well. Ghostly Prison isn't even in the mainboard, but it's purpose really is a so called "pillow fort", I usually side it in when I go against some seriously aggro heavy decks. Why add veteran swordsmith or it's counterpart the armorsmith when I can just add another Field Marshal? And Honor of the Pure also buffs all my soldiers, so no, the Smiths are reduntant.

As for Elsepth, I had 2 in the deck originally, but they quite honestly didn't do shit except slow me down, they were absolutely useless and I'll never use another planeswalker again, ever.

That's fair, can't really argue with your points. I like the deck a lot, I mostly brought up the Marshal specifically because redundant abilities still stack. But you're right, and if they don't fit then they don't fit. Elspeth is fairly slow, and to dispute that is a waste of time, but I figured to offer it because it fit your theme. I'd disagree on absolutely useless, but it's not my deck. Thanks for the response!

Well, I guess calling her absolutely useless was a bit overkill, but she honestly isn't much help in this deck. The purpose is speed and she doesn't fit there very well, her first ability ofc is very useful, I do use her in my Angels and Humans commander deck tho.

Are you still looking for card draw? If so, try Thraben Inspector. If you're open for suggestions or want to try other soldiers, I'd say give Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip and Ranger of Eos a chance. Kytheon is very useful in a deck like yours. The Ranger provides a huge boost in terms of drawing.

In my deck Thalia and her white Army I started off as Soldier tribal but somehow drifted into a Human/Soldier deck. I think I want to try Infiltration Lens. How did it work out for you so far?

April 24, 2017 4:16 a.m.

Fipsomat. Alas Ranger of Eos doesn't benefit me much, because I only have 4 1 cmc creatures in my deck. I only needed card draw way back when I didn't emphasize as much on tokens, but now I usually always have a huge army of tokens next to my regular creatures, so card draw isn't that big of an issue anymore.

Infiltration Lens actually works pretty well, in two ways even, in most cases people are more afraid that I'll get more cards, so they just let the creature equipped with Infiltration Lens pass. On the other hand, once I get them to less then 10 life, they'll start blocking the creature, but then I'll just get more cards and tend to make quick work of them.

due to your emphasis on tokens Mirror Entity would be a good endgame option !

December 26, 2017 10:29 a.m.

Yeah, I can see some good combos with that card, thanks.
