INTRODUCTION
Aren't you just a little bit disappointed with white being left out of the devotion game? All these mono blue, red, black, and green decks and where does white fit in? Well, now that BotG is out, mono white weenie devotion finally has the cards it needs to excel in this format.
STRATEGY
In general, dump your hand as fast as you can and turn everything sideways. Rootborn Defenses and Brave the Elements can help you either to punch through a clogged board state, or keep your army alive through creature-sweeper effects such as
Supreme Verdict
and Anger of the Gods. The sideboard helps this deck adapt to different situations.
CARD DISCUSSION
Soldier of the Pantheon
,Dryad Militant - Both 2 power creatures for 1 W. Helps us lay on the pressure early, and stay above the curve on the draw. Their abilities are less relevant in this deck, but sometimes can be useful.
Precinct Captain
- An extremely powerful 2-drop that makes more dudes if it connects. Also provides 2 devotion for Nykthos and Heliod.
Spirit of the Labyrinth - One of the new cards from BotG that makes this deck work. Weren't able to win by turn 5 or 6 because of that pesky U/W/x control build? Not to worry, your opponent won't be gaining any card advantage by dropping a Sphinx's Revelation on you. Also, quite crucially, it's a 3/1 for 2, making it extremely good in a deck like this.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos - Another card from the new set that makes this deck work. This card is just an absolute beast. No explanation needed.
Brave the Elements - Helps you punch through clogged board states, and can save a creature from spot removal.
Rootborn Defenses - Saves your creatures through creature-sweeper effects, and also can populate a
Precinct Captain
or Brimaz, King of Oreskos token.
SIDEBOARD DISCUSSION
Glare of Heresy
- Too good to not play in a white deck sideboard. Gets rid of a lot of pesky cards in the format like Assemble the Legion, Detention Sphere, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion.
Imposing Sovereign
- Swaps out against aggro match-ups where a difference in tempo can mean the difference between winning and losing.
