Very good! However, very high budget as well... what would you suggest for a lower budget with the same combo?

Removing Voice of Resurgence , Hallowed Fountain , Breeding Pool , and Temple Garden (putting 4x card of your choice and 12x basic lands in instead) will lower the cost by about $240. You may have trouble with mana fixing at that point but if you are on a budget it is the way to go.

Thanks Gorgosaurusrex! I actually have a playset of Hallowed Fountain already, but all the other cards are way out of budget. What's a good alternative for Voice of Resurgence here? What about a sideboard?

if you can't go with Voice of Resurgence , i highly suggest Loxodon Smiter . it helps the curve and dodge those Lightning Strike s

I'm just gonna point this out... Since no one said anything about it, if you trigger this combo, you would lose, unless you have Laboratory Maniac because you would deck yourself out before you can utilize the amount of +1/+1 counters you have made.

Unfortunately as Laboratory Maniac is not standard anymore, this infinite combo won't win you the game, so the combo would be beneficial if you only run 2 of those 3 cards at any one point in time, I'm just saying... Didn't anyone else notice that the infinite combo loses the game?

Not quite true Coneman, the fathom mage says "may"

Ahhh, right. Reading, apparently not my strong suit.

Still... Laboratory Maniac

i understand that. it was the first thing i checked. i can stop the combo anytime i want since i can choose not to draw a card for Fathom Mage . i'd most likely just fill up my hand to 7 and then stop

Thanks Tempest for the tips, I'll try to build one without the Voice. Also, Psychic Spiral is a good addition to the sideboard as an alternative finisher.

For the sideboard you might want to consider Swan Song instead of Annul (you don't really care about the bird tokens, do you?) and Syncopate instead of Negate

tempest says... #15

Zelan87, Negate is a lot better than Syncopate . yes, it only hits noncreature spells but Syncopate requires too much mana to be useful in most cases

Wow, that infinite combo looks really scary.. However I would be very careful as to when Id "trigger" it seeing as If you don't win the turn you do it - you kinda end up losing the next one due to draw out - or am I being silly here?

+1 though for the find!

Because Fathom Mage 's ability has a may in it I can end the loop by deciding not to draw a card. Basically, once the combo is set in motion it pauses at fathom Mage to give me a chance to halt the combo

I love this combo. I love it more so in EDH. I know you're running some mana dorks, but in playtesting, are you actually able to pull it off with two 4ccs and a 5cc creature? Perhaps Prophet of Kruphix would help considering you can flash in a combo piece during your opponent's end step? I realize it's another 5cc creature to add to the mix, but I just got off of work and can't think about the math involved in available mana and dropping dorks at the right pace to figure out whether or not this might ramp the combo a turn or not.

Tempest I have to disagree about Syncopate . It's very good as a early turn counter (in which you will counter creatures, most likely) and exiles cards, which is still useful in Standard. After the first turns you can rely on Swan Song or Dissipate if you like. Also, you can use Render Silent for more control, but that's really expensive.

hey, your deck looks really fun to play :). Since you can only have a maximum of 7 cards at the end of your turn, have you thought about including Elixir of Immortality in your deck? That way, you can do your infinite combo until you get at least an elixir in your hand, cast it during your 2nd main phase. Discard the required amount of cards at the end of your turn, and at the next main phase, use its ability (to avoid milling yourself with your infinite combo). during combat phase, attack with archangel, rinse and repeat.

It took me a little bit to understand exactly what the combo was... I see it now.

tekn0 says... #24

Its not infinite though >.> you can only do it like 40 times before you deck yourself

October 6, 2013 9:58 a.m.

VinylScratch says... #25

tekn0 it says you may draw a card so when you have only 1 card left you would stop, then you would attack with at least 3 40/40 creatures 2 with flying and 1 with trample.
