I would say here is my budget Meren, but not so much.
Maybe you can still keep some of the upgrades within a budget, but here is my Meren deck.. and +1 for definitely trying to go budget with it.

Thanks for the comment! Truth be told though this deck isn't made for me. I made for anyone who wants to play Meren of Clan Nel Toth but can't afford a super powerful version. In real life I have a Meren deck, but that one is far from budget. She's great.

I gave you the upvote, and yea. Who needs expensive decks? 90% of my decks are under $75 and they work fine. I've even made a turn 2 win deck under $100 (Around $50). Mind you it is casual, but all it is is Laboratory Maniac, Dark Ritual and Demonic Consultation. (With demonic consultation, name a card that isn't in your library, e.g., Lava Axe and you exile your library) There are so many decks you can build under $50 that are just as good as decks that cost hundreds. (If you build around the right cards) My first EDH deck is under $40. (It's called "Artifucked" and it's on my profile If you want to check it out.) it's not that good, but I thought a $30 EDH deck was a cool idea in itself. Not to mention the fact that it really isn't a bad deck at all. Your deck is obviously better, as it has almost 5x the budget and yours is really well made.

First of all thanks for the comment and the upvote! I appreciate it. I would tend to agree budget decks can easily work well and still win against higher budget decks. Because anything can happen in a game of commander! I might have to look into some of your decks because I like seeing budget brews and how they playout. Again thanks for the comment and upvote and also the kind words! :)
Hey thanks! Sacrifice is a great card that a lot of people don't seem to know about. It's super useful too!

Have you seen Metamorphosis? Not as good, but a possible turn 3 8CMC(Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger)creature is strong.

I have indeed seen it. I don't use it because it's sorcery speed and it limits me to creatures. I also think it would incredibly difficult to get much use of it early game.

I've thought about it before and never really cared for it. But I appreciate the comment nonetheless! Thanks!

KingMathorothen what about Emrakul's Evangel being able to give you lots of experience counters?

I have actually used that card before and never got more than a couple of uses out of it. Wasn't too impressed by it.

I have had better testing with Arguel's Blood Fast over Greed as the turn you could play greed you could also activate the blood fast. It does cost more to activate but in this kind of deck, once you have the control, I haven't found that to be a problem.

Hey thanks for commenting I appreciate it. Innocent Blood actually isn't that great in here for a few reasons. 1. I have two creatures that do it better. 2. It is a sorcery which means it's a one off unless I choose to recur it which personally I wouldn't it isn't worth it. And lastly 3. I have used it before and it never performed well. Again thanks!

Depending on how it's used/ what's needed, Ravenous Chupacabra may be a better option than Shriekmaw. The latter is good because of the evoke and fear when it is on board, but the former doesn't have the targeting restrictions. Just out of curiosity is there a reason you left out Disciple of Bolas? He's a staple in most sac decks, and for good reason, so curious as to why he's not included in this build. I realize there's not a ton of beef to throw under the bus here, but just a thought.

So to answer your first statement, the Ravenous Chupacabra can certainly be better than than Shriekmaw I just really like the evoke cost. Although they both could be in here as a form of removal. Secondly Disciple of Bolas never got me all that much value whenever I would play them. I have played around 40 matches with it included and I think only a few times I found it useful. Plus by the time that he could be useful I have already won the game. So yeah, just not that great for what I am trying to do. But I appreciate the comment!

Gotta respect a fellow budget brewer, especially when they work with a lot of the same material. Take a look: Okay, the Whole Death Thing? Minor Setback. NOW, some tips for your brew:
Does Sifter of Skulls do enough? It rarely seems like it does for me. And instead of your current ramp package, try Borderland Ranger or Primal Druid or Viridian Emissary, maybe all of them. Definitely Perilous Forays is a good plan.
Gutter Grime gets huge, Lifecrafter's Bestiary is SOOO much value, Zulaport Cutthroat is a strictly better Blood Artist. Treasure Keeper is fantastic. Thragtusk is good, and finally, Sepulchral Primordial, a pretty legendary finisher.

Hey there man! Thank you for the comment and upvote. Forward of this comment I will say I have been reworking it a bit since Dominaria has hit. To answer your recommendations I will go with this: Sifter of skulls generally does well for me but as some cards have come out as mentioned above he might not be as useful as some other cards. As for my ramp package I rather like it. I would maybe consider Perilous Forays though. Gutter Grime is a rather interesting card that I will think about as well. For bestiary I would agree the card does work. I just haven't updated the deck to reflect that, again though, I am in the process of that. I would 100% disagree that Cutthroat is strictly better. As someone commented on your deck said as well, he makes a great political piece for the deck. Treasure Keeperis pretty cool as well and I will play around with him too. Thragtusk can certainly be fun and lastly, I have never really been that big of a fan of the Primordial. I just didn't care for him. Again thanks for the comment and the upvote. Cheers!

Gotta say, budget decks are my favourite decks! I'm not exactly sure how to play Meren, as I don't have a deck, but I'll try my best on some suggestions!
So I personally LOVE making decks built around sacrificing creatures, so I'll be sliding in a ton of suggestions around that!
Scourge of Nel Toth - 6/6 flying bodies can be scary, especially on turn two! Try to get this out early to beat face early game!
Journey to Eternity Flip - Seriously one of my favourite new RIX cards, I love bringing back stuff from my graveyard constantly. I know Meren does that for free, but if you enchant Meren with this, she can survive a removal attempt, and bring back stuff from your graveyard too! Also ramp so that's important
Bloodspore Thrinax - On first glance this looks really good. You can cast it and sacrifice everything on your field, then bring them back one by one with a ton of +1/+1 counters on them!
Sidisi, Undead Vizier - Pretty sure this is a must for Meren decks, the amount of tutoring you can get from it is insane!

Why hello! Thanks for the comment. As per your suggestions I will do some splainin'. Scourge has never done that much for me in all honesty I normally find him to be a hindrance. Journey is one of the cards that will be in the deck. I stated in my previous comment that I am making some very large changes here soon and that is one of them. Lastly Sidisi was in the deck initially but was cut for budget constraints. Although seeing as the price of this deck has gone down recently, (I last checked this morning anyways) they might see a comeback because it is a very nice card. Again I appreciate the comment. Have a good one!

Okay this is pretty good. Love the new update. But Explosive Vegetation may not be quite as good as Borderland Ranger/Civic Wayfinder or Viridian Emissary. And certainly not, if you can spend the money, as good as Solemn Simulacrum.
