Looks like an awesome budget build! Should definitely get in quick game 1, wondering how you would sideboard? I think having two search for Azcanta mainboard (sub for 2 supreme wills) would definitely help your draw and finding answers (definitely extends the range of the deck).

Thanks for the suggestion! I have two Search for Azcanta  Flips just sitting in an unused Esper Control deck. I’ll try them out!

Might be sideboard, but for a big closer out of nowhere have you considered Insult? It might be a little win more, but it can close the game out quick if you curve out and works nicely with your cheap burn spells.

I might try Insult // Injury against some decks that get out large creatures that I usually can't handle cough Glorybringer, Lyra Dawnbringer, Heart of Kiran cough. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've run it a few times and I wonder, have you run into mana issues in real play? I think 20 lands is where you want to be at for that 1:3 draw ratio, would probably help the deck be more consistent. The times I ran it I wouldn't have enough mana for the play to flow.

What about Nimble Obstructionist? A very versatile card! At the least you can hold up mana for any responses and flash it in EoT to have a 3/1 flier ready for fightin.

@blueguitar1014 I have played this deck many times and the most lands that I usually want is around 3-4, which I get by turn 3-4 with this amount of mana. I would rather have the cards that I run then more mana clunking up my synergy.

@DogKnight156 Nimble Obstructionist is a great card, but doesn't synergize with the rest of my deck. I'd much rather run more Wizard's Retorts or other prowess-like cards.

Try testing out The Flame of Keld. For two mana you get a prowess trigger, 2 cards next turn, followed by 2 damage to opponent. It's really good to use after dumping a couple lightning spells so you can reload and hit heavy again next turn.

clentdc Baral, Chief of Compliance is too slow for my deck. The only spells his first ability would reduce are Lightning Strike, Abrade and 1 X off Syncopate. I'm considering taking out Syncopate for something more aggro-y like Invigorated Rampage, Run Amok or Burning-Fist Minotaur.

@Snivy__ gotcha, if you start leaning heavier on counterspells it might be more relevant- but as it is yeah, I agree.

Very good version of the deck, very close to the version I play; thing is, I would absolutely run Riddleforms across the 75; they're useful as both scry engines and creatures that evade blocks AND removal, as the enemy can't target them with creature specific spells. Another card I'd play is Blink, since it not only fills out your curve late game with the option to replace itself in your hand, but also the fact that it can bounce a teferi or Karn back (I hate Teferi). Enigma Drake is good, but I guess you'd need a dive down to give him hexproof ultimately.

Ultimately, I really like your deck. Looking onward from M19, I'd probably put in 2 Exclusion Mage, or 2 Omenspeakers. Dismissive Pyromancer looks like a great draw engine as well.

drsnailtrail I have deeply considered Riddleform but sadly in my playtesting with it I would always want a Wizard's Retort, Unsummon or Spell Pierce in its place. Although it is mostly a two-mana 3/3 flyer that can scry, it's not a Wizard, so it doesn't turn on Wizard's Lightning or Wizard's Retort. Also, it doesn't get pumped by Adeliz and it doesn't even have prowess so I can't protect it from commonly used burn spells like Abrade and Lightning Strike.

Exclusion Mage is definitely worth testing in place of Unsummon. I don't like how it isn't instant speed, but it is a 2/2 for 3 with an Unsummon attached to it.

I don't really like Omenspeaker because it doesn't help me win faster with more answers. A 1/3 for 2 is not what this deck wants in the 75.

Even though Dismissive Pyromancer does have a draw engine attached to it, it doesn't have prowess but in replace it has a solid burn spell on a 2/2 body.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Will you try the spell that gives unblockable of M19?

Doublecast is going to be a total wild card for you man. Keep posting results!

Snivy__ says... #18

You know Raitiger and clentdc I’ve been thinking Ghostform and Doublecast will be the best cards to test with from m19. Thanks for bringing it up because I actually have some from a prerelease that I did. What to take out though...

Code goes here

I'm running 2 Viashino Pyromancer in my Izzet Wizard deck for the time being. Once Spellweaver Eternal cycles I'll add 2 more, but then I really don't know what to do about the last two slots. Maybe Guilds of Ravnica will offer some great options

July 10, 2018 11:21 p.m.

Snivy__ says... #20

So far the one-drop slot along with Ghitu Lavarunner will be Siren Stormtamer after rotation, but idk if the Siren is really strong enough. Other than that Spirebluff Canal and Unsummon are the only two cards rotating from the main. Guilds of Ravnica is going to focus on the Izzet guild, so I'm hoping they either create a great Izzet land or remake the shock land.

Don't you ever get mana screw with only 19 lands?

July 15, 2018 4:07 p.m.

Snivy__ says... #22

Don’t all the other Wizards players get flooded with 21+ lands?

Donpedrox says... #23

drsnailtrail the highest mana cost looks to be 3 shouldn't be an issue I think.

Snivy__ I've played around with a similar Izzet build to this one (minus the Doublecast's, which I've Opted to replace with Crash Through) . My personal favorite so far is Ghostform which I managed to get from a prerelease. Despite being at sorcery-speed, you can almost hear the agony caused by buffed, ghosted wizards.

July 17, 2018 6:13 p.m.

Snivy__ says... #25

I truly agree with Ghostform. Crash Through doesn't cut it for me, and Doublecast hasn't served well in place of something that could be a Ghostform. Somehow, I think I need a bit more creatures to make Ghostform work. Maybe Viashino Pyromancer...
