NO. Dictate is good, but I definitely don't need 4. And Kiora's Follower is way too good to lose. Untapping nykthos for huge amounts is SOOOO good. I have Prime Speaker for some late game card draw too. Card draw isn't even that important because all I need to win is mana and a threat.
April 14, 2014 9:12 p.m.
I ran a copy of this deck for a few weeks. All 12 mana ramp guys, 4 copies of Nykthos, 3 copies of Kiora, 3 copies of Garruk, 4 polukranos, 4 courser, 4 arbor colossus, etc. etc.
The deck is super weak to removal. And that's not an opinion, it's a fact. Without running red, we have no access to the R/G planeswalkers that the Monsters deck uses to rebuild it's board after mass removal and board wipes. Since Simic doesn't have access to that, you need the extra draw to rebuild the board. Even with getting Garruk out turns 3-4, it was super hard to keep a presence up.
You don't have to listen to me. I know you haven't given this a legitimate playtest as the Journey Into Nyx cards aren't out yet (and no, playtesting decks on this site doesn't count. You have access to perfect information and you play accordingly even if you try and compensate). Running four copies of Dictate will make your life much easier if you are getting 2-3 cards a turn consistently instead of only occasionally getting an extra draw because you are only running two.

I really like the idea. As stated yes removal hurts unless you counter (Probs no room for it here) or you rebuild quickly. +1 though and that new Hydra looks like a load shit heads to me. I don't wanna have to deal with him...

I know it's weak to removal. And I do need to playtest once the set's on cockatrice. I really don't want to make choices like that until I've tested. And if I do make the change, I won't change out any of the dorks. They are absolutely necessary to the game plan even more than card draw. And there's quite a few problems with Dictate. I don't want my opponent drawing cards too because then they just have more removal. I can't reliably have UU on turn 3. I sometimes can't waste a turn laying down that when I could lay down a threat. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd like to wait and see for myself rather than have someone tell me.

Thanks Aytonday! There's some sideboard counters but yeah, not much room.
April 14, 2014 9:54 p.m.
/shrug, that's fine. Was just trying to be helpful. Just keep in mind that card draw is the most important thing in mtg, bar nothing.

I know you were trying to be helpful. And you were. It's just kind of my taste and the way I build my decks. I'm kind of stubborn that way. I have taken what you said into consideration though. I do have to disagree with the card draw statement though. I think having fun is the most important thing in mtg. Card draw may very well be the most valuable resource though. Well, card draw and Goat Tokens.

Nah not anymore. There wasn't enough room for Prophet. It was also a bit low impact for my taste.

I would seriously consider trying to add some counters like Dissolve or splash black scry lands to add Golgari Charm to regenerate all your creatures against kill spells like Supreme Verdict or Doom Blade . It makes the deck so much nicer to play when you have a few insurance policies like that sitting in your hand. Another change I might make if I were you is adding in Bident of Thassa instead of Dictate of Kruphix because in such as creature heavy deck, letting your opponent draw cards as well means that they are going to find an answer for your creatures sooner rather than later and the fact that you're churning out creatures really quickly makes it easy to connect with the Bident of Thassa .It;s also nice that it's devotion is the same as Dictate of Kruphix . If you want to see how I did it check this out Simic Wavemancer ft. MC Zegana although I used Master Biomancer and Master of Waves as the power-houses rather than Polukranos, World Eater or Hydra Broodmaster

I like the Bident idea, but adding in black just for Golgari Charm is a little farfetched
April 18, 2014 11:22 a.m.
Adding in black is good, if you go for cards like Desecration Demon and Hero's Downfall . Black also changes you from midrange to control, so it is a drastic change.

If I did add black (which I won't), I wouldn't add Desecration Demon or Hero's Downfall . The double black mana costs would be way too hard with a splash. And I just kind of don't like bident.

Now I wanna make something like this with a little splash of red for Xenagos and removal

kyuuri117 Should I cut 2x Kruphix, God of Horizons for 2 Dictate of Kruphix ?
April 18, 2014 1:12 p.m.
Kruphix, God of Horizons works nicely with Mistcutter Hydra . I would leave it in.
April 18, 2014 3:08 p.m.
My suggestions are: drop the hydra brood masters for two more prime speaker zegana, for the extra devotion and card draw. Drop all three cyclonic rifts for three Setessan Tactics . Much more permanent solution and you can deal with the planeswalkers next turn. Lastly, send to arbor colossus to the sideboard and put in two Sylvan Primordial . His enter effect is awesome.

4 Prime Speaker seems like way too much because of the cost restriction and legendary, and the fact it needs other cards to be good. Setessan Tactics is as big of a blowout as Cyclonic Rift and I can't overload cyclonic rift FTW, so I want to keep Rift around, even if it's just 1 or 2. Arbor Colossus is my main devotion enabler and threat. I don't really want to cut any of him. I am going to make some changes based on your suggestions though (eventually, when I feel like thinking). I do like Setessan Tactics .
April 18, 2014 5:33 p.m.
I really love this deck! Why don't you run Kruphix, God of Horizons . Two reasons:
If a huge Prime Speaker Zegana hits the board, you can keep all the cards with it and not have to discard.
You can add lots of mana to your pool for an easier Cyclonic Rift and a huge Polukranos, World Eater after it is monstrous.

I had just removed Kruphix, God of Horizons because I hardly ever had a full hand and I usually had enough mana to get down to 7 cards after a PSZ, and it was never the best move to save up mana rather than use it. And it's only a 4/7, and there are just better things at 5 mana.

I essentially have this deck splayed out in front of me, and I was wondering: what cards are you considering post rotation? I'm curious what you would use to replace heavy hitters like PSZ and CRift.

InconspicuousPotato says... #25
@motownmogul As you can tell, this deck is already pretty much good for rotation other than the cards you mentioned. I'm not going to worry about it until we know what's coming in Khans. Though it will probably be Setessan Tactics for CRift and maybe something like Eidolon of Blossoms or some walkers to replace PSZ.

I would run 2 more copies of dictate and drop two Kiora's followers. Card draw is the single most important thing to a midrange deck like this that just wants to keep the gas coming all day long. Just a suggestion.
