Sidisi + Whip = Really Good —Dec. 8, 2014

After looking over some other generally helpful cards, I noticed the Sidisi, Brood Tyrant + Whip of Erebos combo. As she is a likely target for removal, you can bring her back for a turn with the Whip of Erebos and get some crazy mill + zombies. I decided to move Bow of Nylea to the sideboard, which is generally better vs stall/mill decks.

I normally don't like Sultai and never seen the real use behind it but your deck is really good. If i had to say anything about it, it would have to be that when playtesting your deck it could run out of cards when stalled. But near the end of the game the zombies just became too much. So yeah, I love the deck. An upvote from me.

@OokamiMaster do you think I should add some kind of draw engine, maybe something like Read the Bones?

@greasysweet He's saying you'll mill yourself, not that your hand goes empty.

FancyFish is right. No matter how much you have on the battlefield if you run out of cards in your deck you'll still lose. though chances are you'll win before then. My decks (not ones currently listed on tappedout) are generally designed to stall so I can build up a large mana base and clean up late game. So stall decks and mill decks will be your enemy I think. Maybe you could sideboard Cranial Archive or something?

@OokamiMaster Ok, I definitely agree with that. Cranial Archive is good for the big return all, but what is your opinion on Bow of Nylea? I kind of like it better because it does more, and the last effect can still just be used each turn if you're getting close to milling out. The bow also let's you choose which cards, so if you're at the bottom of your deck, you could say put an Empty the Pits right on top.

@greasysweet yeah, thats' definetly a good option, I run two in my Natures Growth deck and I've always found it very helpful. Thanks to your deck though I noticed a flaw in mine. I had really strong creatures out but all your deck had to do was nerf block with a Zombie. So to get around that I now run 2x Nylea, God of the Hunt as well giving trample to all my buffed up satyrs. I've noticed as well with your deck that if you don't get Sidisi, Brood Tyrant out it falls apart fairly quickly but I'm not sure how to improve that?

@OokamiMaster I'm not a huge fan of Nylea, God of the Hunt in this deck, because I really don't win with big creatures, it's typically a swarm victory. I was also looking at some other Sultai decks and their suggestions, and saw that Pharika, God of Affliction was pretty popular to put out those 1/1 deathtouchers for 2 mana. If I were to mainboard Pharika, God of Affliction and Bow of Nylea (which I think is really helpful and kinda just want to mainboard), then what do you think I could take out?

@greasysweet I didn't actually mean to suggest Nylea, God of the Hunt, I don't think she herself would be very helpful in your deck. Each time I playtested your deck I found that Kruphix, God of Horizons wasn't very helpful. Everything else worked really well so it's hard to say. I was going to suggest Kiora's Follower but it would work really well with Bow of Nylea. Maybe you could take Villainous Wealth out?

@OokamiMaster I kinda liked Kruphix, God of Horizons, but he does require a lot of build up, which some decks will deprive me of. I also would like to keep Villainous Wealth just because of how ridiculous it can be with a lot of mana. What's your opinion on Dictate of Karametra? I could just flash play it at the end of my opponent's turn, and then cast a Villainous Wealth or Empty the Pits the next turn. I might also throw in the Pharika, God of Affliction because deathtouch makes a nice defense and my devotion is a lot more G/B.

@greasysweet I think you might be trying to do too much in the one deck. It is allot about swarming but you should focus more on a particular strategy/theme or the way of achieving your goal. For everything you want to add you will have to sacrifice some things you like. it's the hardest part of deck building lol. Yes Villainous Wealth can do some amazing things but is it necessary? Is it better to focus on Empty the Pits or to focus on Villainous Wealth? At the same time it's your deck and adding what you like is what makes it unique and not just a carbon copy of any Sultai deck. If you feel it is necessary then you'll have to take something else out. I agree on adding Pharika, God of Affliction though. I hope you don't feel like I'm criticising you or anything. I'm just trying my best to help make some hard decisions.

@OokamiMaster I think you're right. When trying to build a standard deck, I can tend to get sidetracked and try to accomplish too much. I have just changed around some things to focus more on Empty the Pits and other delve cards, rather than being spread out too thin. Thanks for the advice.
