I came up with the idea for this deck while I was reading Lovercraft.

Flavour-wise, I wanted the deck to have a bit of an uncanny feeling, stuffing it with obsessed mad researchers, nightmarish horrors from the depths and a sense of increasing loss of reason and memories.

GAMEPLAY

The main objective of the deck is to disrupt the opponents, by having cards discarded from the hand or put from the top of the libraries into the graveyard, in which they could be used against their original owners. This can be done with both small but mean creatures (many of them with evasion) or with sorceries: the deck offers plenty of choice in this regard.

Once sufficient mana is available, it is time for the huge lovercraftian monsters to spread terror on the battlefield: Sire of Stagnation , general Wrexial, the Risen Deep , the broken Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger , but not to be forgotten are Consuming Aberration , which feeds on what's dead and forgotten, as well as the Awoken Horror and gigantic Marit Lage that rose from their icy sleep on the bottom Dark Depths .

Direct (and commander) damage however is not the only way of winning, as there are a couple of combos involving Laboratory Maniac for instant win.

SOME WEAKNESSES

The deck has hardly any countermeasure against enchantments and artifact once they hit the board. If I don't manage to counter or have them discarded before they hit the battlefield, it gets tricky to get rid of those later.

Also, most of its key spells operate at sorcery speed, which could cause problems in reacting at what is going on on the board.

Against decks that are heavy on reanimation and use the graveyard as a hand extension, some of my spells would do more good than harm with the discard effects.

I have deliberately prioritized flavour over substance here in order to keep the lovercraftian theme, trying to make sure that artwork and name of the cards were sufficiently fitting with the gimmick of the deck. It makes the deck weaker, but I'm fine with it as it is meant for casual play.
