Because leyline only effects opponents

Why would you have Nightmare in here? It doesn't do anything.

Why would you have Urborg when you basically only have swamps anyway? It just gives options to the opponent a lot of times.

It That Betrays

swap out some swamps for Reliquary Tower , Volrath's Stronghold , Strip Mine , Petrified Field , Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . Putting in utility lands like this will give you more options and make Urborg more worth it. Also, your land count seems a little low in my opinion, are you constantly hitting your land drops with the current number?

and you don't have any artifacts at all...why? There's tons of great ones, especially for mono black

Argentum Armor , deals with enchantments and artifacts in a way that black cards can't
Armillary Sphere , get a pair of swamps in your hand if you start drawing creatures when you need land.
Expedition Map , get that Urborg or Cabal Coffers exactly when you need it.
Lightning Greaves , so useful, I consider it a must include for any EDH deck.
Lashwrithe and Nightmare Lash , both fantastic equipments for a mono black deck, especially good because you can attach them to a creature the turn they hit the field because of their equip costs being a life cost (or phyrexian mana).

There are tons more artifacts you could run, but thats a start.

The main reason for not having many artifacts is so I hit my devotion easier and keep it high. And nykthos has made its way into the deck and I was looking for a lashwrithe today actually.

Fair enough. After looking at your list again I have two more suggestions.

Reanimate instead of Rise from the Grave
1 cost vs 5 cost is an instant swap in my eyes.

Lord of the Void instead of Volrath the Fallen
same devotion on both so no loss there and it doesn't look like you have a whole lot of creatures that you want to be discarding to buff Volrath. Plus, he's a 7/7 flyer that lets you simultaneously steal your opponents creatures (hopefully the big ones) and exile chunks of their deck.

Interesting build. Devotion is okay Erebos is better left as an enchantment most of the time. I do think mana rocks are needed though.

Never have had an issue with mana so I haven't put them in again. Used to have sol ring and such

I really like this Commander and the way he plays, but as the deck is now your average CMC is pretty high at 5.02. You should think about getting some good low-drops for the early game. And don't forget about mana-doublers like Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power .

GentlemanKong what good low drops would you suggest? Other than mana rocks, cause mana isn't really a huge issue with this deck. I an working on getting the sun and Gauntlet though.

Disciple of Griselbrand is nice to have when a big creature you control is about to die from an opponent or a wrath, so might as well gain some life. Gatekeeper of Malakir is fun early game (also good against Voltrons). There's also not a lot of artifact removal in black, so I suggest Gate to Phyrexia just in case. Basilica Screecher is nice early game and better with more opponents.

Can't have Pontiff of Blight or Crypt Ghast in the deck, due to Extort. I would put in Nirkana Revenant and Sorin Markov instead. Making somebody's life total ten in EDH is ridiculous.

JakeSaysAhoy, extort does not add to the colour identity, the B/W symbol is in the reminder text and therefore ignorable.

skullcandy1993 that makes total sense! I've got a Geth EDH deck, and Crypt Ghast is definitely going in there now. Thanks for the heads up.

I have been needing to get a revenant and a sorin. Just no one at my shop has them for trade. And the shop is out of them :'(
