Maybeboard

Mono Blue EDH. Switched general from Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to Heidar, Rimewind Master . Teferi gets too many complaints. Afterall, who wants to play instants anyways? New version of the deck named for the Snow General and Stark motto (Game of Thrones for those unfamiliar). Also modified design of the deck to revolve less around counterspell control. Still heavy on control, but less counters and more board interaction. Counterspell heavy decks tend to draw the game out and make it more boring/less fun. Running Snow-Covered Island s for two reasons...Extraplanar Lens more likely to only benefit me and Heidar, Rimewind Master gives good board control.

This deck has multiple win-cons. Dream Halls protected with counter spell backup is usually a game winner...depending on cards in hand. Dream Halls casting free Enter the Infinite is always fun; unless in GY or RFG'D, Omniscience can then come down for free. Traditional creature beat down via board control is also possible. Also, forcing opponent to draw their deck is possible with infinite mana loop.

Back to Basics is a huge lockdown card...also the reason for so few non-basics.

Tricks with Deadeye Navigator: all for 2 mana

Draining Whelk - Repeatable Counterspell

Duplicant & Phyrexian Ingester - Repeatable exile target creature

Palinchron - Infinite mana loop

Solemn Simulacrum - land tutoring

Trinket Mage - tutors as mana cheap artifacts as needed

Vendilion Clique - abuse opponents hands, or shuffle your own unwanted cards away to draw new ones

Other tricks:

Grozoth transmutes to Artisan of Kozilek, who can then be cast. He in turn "reanimates" Grozoth triggering the ETB effect, tutoring for Denying Wind or Inkwell Leviathan . Random trick, I know, but fun nonetheless.

Comments Welcome! Always trying to streamline my EDH decks.

FYI: Time Stretch is banned in our meta. I know it's awesome and should be in here...

EDIT [05/10/2013]: Removed Knowledge Exploitation and Unsummon and upped the land count (+2 Snow-Covered Island ). Unsummon was unnecessary due to general's ability and Knowledge Exploitation is not as good without a "rogue" general. Considering the removal of Eldrazi lands for more basics. Not sure they are necessary.

EDIT [06/11/13]: feel like more draw is necessary for the deck. Maybe board has cards being considered. Inkwell Leviathan and Denying Wind both good cards, but being considered for Grozoth targets...helps fuel deck if Infinite mana loop achieved. Peregrine Drake also being considered as another target to fuel infinite mana loop.

EDIT [07/10/13]: Replaced Eldrazi lands ( Eye of Ugin & Eldrazi Temple) with Snow-Covered Island s. Helps with mana flow, and haven't missed the Eldrazi lands while playing in local meta.
