Thinking about getting back into Magic after a couple year hiatus. Blue has always had my favorite cards in it, and U/W control seems to be the pairing best suited to my playstyle/ card selection. Trying to keep a $400ish budget, hence some of the omissions (namely the Celestial Colonnades and more Snapcasters).
-In looking at a lot of lists for U/W control, Ancestral Vision does not seem to be favored too much. I initially was looking at 3 copies, and decided to cut it to two to make room for other tech. Unfortunately for the sake of competitiveness,this is one of my favorite cards of all time and have never had a chance to actually play it in a deck.
-As I mentioned above, I can really only reasonably purchase 2 copies of Snapcaster, hence the 2 copies of Gearhulk. However, I feel the Gearhulk fills the role of finisher much better. Also, I find that one of the most common applications for Snaps is to flashback Cryptic. In that case, for the same cost you can get a much more relevant body. I know that Snaps is more often the better play, but I feel a 2/2 split hits the utility/budget component nicely.
-Gideon of the Trials fills the 3 drop slot nicely. Worst case scenario, even if all he does is pump out an emblem, it makes future copies of Gideon even more effective as a finisher.
Any constructive feedback is highly appreciated. Please keep in mind the budget constraints for the deck when making such suggestions. Mana base suggestions and control suite suggestions are also highly appreciated.
