Disclaimer

This Primer is currently a work in progress. I'd be glad to take feedback and suggestions while building it and will begin adding sections ASAP. The initial list here is based off of the Zur Doomsday list I was building, combined with items from the Jeleva Storm deck from Moxnix. Please reference both of these primers below while I construct this one

Zur Doomsday List

Jeleva's Pile of Broken

Why Breya?

I originally was building the list with Sen Triplets as a budget option. She was available at my LGS for awhile and I decided to pick her up as the temporary commander. Eventually I would 'upgrade' to Zur the Enchanter as the commander to replace Sen Triplets.

However, once I saw Breya, I knew I could make a list that combined the explosiveness of Jeleva storm with the resiliency of Zur. Excitedly I began building the list while referencing both decklists. With that, I introduce to you my Breya Doomsday list.

General Strategy and Synergy

Our goal here is to survive until we can cast doomsday safely, make our pile, and win. There are hundreds of posts out there discussing all of the possible piles we can make and the different situations that would require specific piles. There are simply too many piles to be able to discuss. Instead we'll look at the most popular ones as well as any specific to the Breya version of the Doomsday deck.

Additionally, the deck is geared towards Storming out in a similar way to the referenced Jeleva Storm deck. As I am significantly more familiar with the Doomsday Win con I will elaborate and focus more on that approach. As time goes on I will update and add my observation on the Storm chains and lines of play, though I will gladly accept help and comments on Storm for Breya.

When to Cast Breya

In our games I expect that we will never cast Breya. She mainly acts as our enabler for the colors we're using

Ad Nauseam: This is card advantage to the extreme. If Doomdsay is our bread then Nauseam is our butter. Resolving Ad Nauseam unapposed can swing the game far to our advantage if not win us the game. The deck is tuned to keep the average cmc of our cards fairly low, that said expect to take plenty of damage. We'll need at least 10 life leftover prior to resolving our doomdsay and playing through our main pile. However, be ready to fight through the hate once people see you're comboing off.

Angel's Grace:

Doomsday: As the namesake for the deck, this will be one of our main win cons for the deck. We need to ensure that we have multiple methods of forcing our combo through or finding multiple paths to bounce back after something gets countered or removed. What will you do when you have certain cards in hand that you expected to be in the doomsday piles? What if Doomsday gets countered or exiled? These are all questions and situations we'll face and need to find answers for.

Grapeshot

Laboratory Maniac: Ahh here we are. The second piece to the Doomsday combo. He's the guy that actually wins us the game. He's the win once we go to draw from our emtpy library. You can bet that there will be plenty of removal aimed at him the second he enters the battlefield. Be prepared

Mind's Desire

Necropotence

Tendrils of Agony

Unearth

Brainstorm:: Alongside Ponder and Preordain, Brainstorm is one of our top cantrips. The draw 3, place two back helps us dig through the top of our deck and we get to return anything that's dead from our hand to the top. Combined with our fetchlands we get to wheel items away with our shuffle, and with Lion's Eye Diamond we can cast our cantrips, maintain priority and crack LED for mana to keep us going without having to discard other key pieces. Instant speed also allows us to sequence through our chains and even cast over a counterspell to keep our line going.
