Hey folks! You know, I never understood the similarity between Kamigawa, Shadows Over Innistrad... oh, wait. Spirits for days! I may or may not be addicted to Spirits and Hydras...
Anyway, after playing around and editing the intro Spirit deck from SOI, I decided to expand on the deck's play style from Spectral Shepherd, Rattlechains, and even with the new Revolt ability from Call for Unity. The main focus is, from my playstyle right now, to play with the field and make it really annoying for the opponent to really do harm to my creatures in most cases. I don't have too much of a problem with the current setup of the deck, but I do want to try and incorporate some--if not all--of the maybe board into the deck. I'll provide my reasoning on the cards in the MB below:- Cloudhoof Kirin: I really think that this creature could add to the annoying aspect of the deck, let alone using the ability to mill.- Celestial Kirin: While I could just go with quicker board wipes, like Wrath of God, the feeling of controlling what gets destroyed appeals to me. Plus, its a creature that can combo with Elspeth, Knight-Errant quite well.- Call for Unity: While this card is useful in boosting the spirits in easy ways, I do want to try two in the deck. It would speed up the spirits' growth and also deter some decks from getting aggressive.- Drogskol Captain: +1/+1 and Hexproof bonuses? Sign me up!- card:Oyobi, Who Split the Heveans: She grants tougher spirits for the deck than most of the other cards... I think that's a valid reason to include Oyobi in the deck.- Myojin of Cleansing Fire: A creature that rids of major threats is something fun to use, and when you can bounce it, you can keep your opponent on their toes.- Battleground Geist and Gallows Warden: The only two that I'm still slightly iffy on, they both provide boosts, so I'm willing to give them a shot.- Yosei, the Morning Star: I love dragons, sure, but this isn't the major reason I wanted to include this creature. When it comes to spirits, your main style is control or power through abilities. I want to include Yosei for the control, and while it, much like some of the cards in this list, is slow, there's potential in using it.- Keiga, the Tide Star: Taking control of creatures... Ya know, while destroying everything in my wake is evident, taking control of other creatures can add to the control/power style.- Spectral Shepherd is to make a full playset.- Spirit of the Hearth: The gods have a way to grant players Hexproof, why not spirits?- AEther Shockwave: Adding free damage opportunities is a must.- card:Kataki, War's Rage: Well, after my fair sure of facing Lux Cannon and other potentially devastating artifacts, I feel adding a way to counteract them would benefit this deck quite well.
Any ideas/help with balancing and the MB is deeply appreciated, and thanks for stopping by and leaving your opinions!
