GP Oakland Review —Jan. 12, 2016
Went into Day 2 with a record of 7-1-1. This deck certainly has legs and no rounds were "freebies". Day 2 was ruined by two unlucky first rounds, but this list still made a deep run which I was incredibly happy with. My final score was 8-4-1, drop. Listed below are the archetypes I played against and what the win rate was:
Abzan: 2-2-0
- Definitely the hardest matchup in the current Standard Meta. I'm probably going to add another Sideboard card, another copy of Self-Inflicted Wound could help against Anafenza, the Foremost and Siege Rhino
Jeskai Black: 2-0-1
- A very easy matchup, especially post-board. Just have to be careful to apply pressure to avoid going to time.
4c Rally: 2-0-0
- Thunderbreak Regent is MVP here, all the dragons in the deck were great at flying over the ground stall and dealing huge damage.
Ramp: 1-1-0
- Feels manageable on the play, but against them on the draw things can get crazy. The loss was due to flooding out hard on lands, any hasty dragon would have sealed the game. The list may want a third Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury.
Esper Dragons: 1-1-0
- A pretty 50/50 matchup, it feels great post-board. The loss was a mana screw, stuck on three with Thunderbreaks and Sarkhans in hand. Another Self-Inflicted Wound would help in this matchup as well.
Thanks for the compliment budu91, I'm glad you like the deck! She was actually the one card that I really wanted to play in Standard along with her Command and believe it or not she's been working out very well! It's no Stormbreath Dragon by any means, but she must be answered as 6 in the air will generally close out a game quickly.
Additionally, because she is underplayed, many people don't expect her, and one swing can put you from defense to offense. Not to mention Dragonlord Kolaghan into Dragonlord Atarka on curve? That's usually just good game :P

Yeah! Finally, Dragonlord Kolaghan is getting some love! How has she been performing?
Generally, really like your brew, can't think of anything to add at the moment --> +1
