Maybeboard

This is an attempt at -1/-1 counters and some proliferate I could scrounge up. Infect generally is met with too much aggro in my casual pods, so instead, I took a look at Infect Jr., aka Wither.

This deck will start with Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa but may transition to The Scorpion God once I acquire it. Mishra's first ability ward is pretty salty, but card draw from Scorpion God is more tempting.

I am spoiled by playing green decks and using their mana ramp spells, and not having them is annoying. Instead, I decided to pull out the mana rocks to substitute for the lack of mana ramp in red and black.

The -1/-1 counters shall be generously put onto the battlefield. Salt negative counters thoroughly on those indestructible pesky creatures.

Particular favorites I hope to see in play are:

  • Blowfly Infestation, We will keep -1/-1 counters going with this on the field triggering all kinds of fun.
  • Crumbling Ashes, Opponents will not like a single negative counter on any creature even my own, super exciting.
  • Everlasting Torment, OH MAN, this is where the fun begins with all damage done as Wither -1/-1 counters.
  • Kulrath Knight, How many creatures have counters going on them these days? Let's shut them down.
  • Stigma Lasher, This one will be fun to tag opponents who try too much Lifelink.

I am still determining how viable this is going to be, but this is a salt tossing, creature-hating pile of rakdos garbage. If I can sandwich more cards in here that proliferate or put out -1/-1 counters, then let's go.

As stated previously, I tried not to get too much into Infect, but there are a few in the deck that exist. Oh well.

I used to play this as a 60-card deck before EDH was really anything. It didn't work all that well, but I was still pretty new then.

Updates Add

As can be seen the switch was made to The Scorpion God. It has proven much more productive than its predecessor given the mechanic of this deck.

I have found that it is not a great partner for 2v2 or similar team based games. That is unless they aren't too concern for their own creatures. There's a bit of splash damage that is unavoidable sometimes depending on situations.

If an opponent plays a Doubling Season it can lead to some funny antics. They realize their mistake soon enough as it doubles every type of counter they receive.

Removed static "Until end of turn -1/-1" and replaced with more -1/-1 counter spells.
