If you add Gilded Lotus and use it with Archaeomancer and Ghostly Flicker you can trigger Sage's Row Denizen for as many times you like to deck yourself or your opponent. You could also add Arcane Adaptation so you wouldn't be limited to just using Wizards for ETB triggers.

I considered Arcane Adaptation in the initial build, but ended up cutting it just because it's too thin of a synergy.
Your Gilded Lotus suggestion, however, closes a few combo loops I have been turning over in my head. I also have a spare, and was considering putting it in the deck. The combo with Ghostly Flicker didn't even occur to me when I considered the card initially, thanks for the Stroke of Genius . (:

Absolutely love the deck name and description of it. This is definitely one of the bigger ways to get the upvotes from me is deck descriptions like this. The deck is good also, don’t get me wrong. The Naban deck I built is based on him being the head of the Tolarian Academy as well. I even put that banned land in my deck just to stay on theme. With no way to abuse it my playgroup has no problems with it.

Never lost a single game with this deck since I downloaded it FOR FREE! All deck doctors hate it! Will recommend +1! :D

Your thoughts on Back from the Brink , Soulblade Djinn , Clone Legion , Salvager of Secrets , or Scholar of the Ages ?
Your list has surprisingly few places you can properly make a cut btw without losing the "amatuer versatility" of it. Kudos to you.

Back from the Brink could be really useful since I don't have any creature recursion. It at least gives me access to the creatures again, and likely another Wizard ETB.
Soulblade Djinn is a maybe. If I get infinite spells cast in a turn, but am unable to deck myself, this dude at least gives my Wizards infinite power and toughness, which means I may be able to swing in for the kill. But without Trample, it seems too easily stopped by a swarm of birds or angels.
The others seem like too high a CMC cost for what they do. I could definitely see myself cutting Mercurial Pretender or Quasiduplicate for Clone Legion , though.
And thank you for the kudos! I tried to build this one very formulaically, and I think it worked out.

Hey, definitely not a blue player, but the new Watcher for Tomorrow seems pretty good. It does fit in both as a cheap wizard but more importantly as a pretty good card draw engine :) Does anyone have an idea if the ability works with your Commander?

It looks like Watcher for Tomorrow will trigger twice on the Hideaway. I dunno, I could see this as being a good alternative to Sage's Row Savant . The big downside is that the card doesn't go straight into my hand, though I do get to fish through four cards, which is pretty powerful.

Thanks chilbi and everyone else who has taken a moment to check out the deck! (:
Recently the user safarisam made a folder with a bunch of different Naban decks. At least 2 of those are in the $35 budget range, and are a bit creature-heavier than this, so if people are looking for even cheaper options, they can check them out here!

Hmm, it's a thought Nasser_inside1. It essentially gives all my Wizards an extra 1 toughness and Investigate at the cost of that toughness. It does not combo directly with Naban, but it does make all my Wizards bigger.

I feel like there have to be better options than cancel, even on a budget. Admiral's Order , Dissipate , or just plain Counterspell . Sweet list though!

Yeah, that's an easy switch to make. I think I have an extra Dissipate, I'll make the change here when I add it to the paper deck. Thanks ThoAlmighty.

@PeaceKeeper101: When editing your deck, after the name of the card add '#Groupname' so it looks like:
4x Storm Crow #Win_condition
2x Black Lotus #Ramp
Then, select default categories and change it to custom. I believe that you need to use underscores if you want multiple-word category names. Best of luck!

@PeaceKeeper101 :: You can also categorize them by heading for less syntax entry. For example:
1x Naban, Dean of Iteration *F: pre* *CMDR*
# Final Exam
1x Jace, Wielder of Mysteries
1x Laboratory Maniac
1x Tunnel Vision
# Instructors
1x Naru Meha, Master Wizard *F: pre*
1x Venser, Shaper Savant

Dismiss Into Dream would work amazing. Making them sacrifice creatures that you target instead of putting them back in their hands.
P.S Currently building this deck.
