mtgbass Not getting white mana would be an issue. What specific spells was it not able to get off because of mana issues?

forbiddenvoid It wouldnt be able to play a Brave the Elements to save the Thurmaturges and the other creatures he needed. And because it was heavily burn, the tap creature cards were kinda useless, besides using them on the creatures from the same deck for the Heroic abilities. But within the next turn, that would all be erased.

forbiddenvoid I play tested my deck against this one again last night, and you got mana screwed in the majority of games I tested against. When you hit your mana curve, the deck ran beautifully. I would tinker with the land base as well, and the suggestion from Long_Con is one I would have to second. Getting that scry land out really helps find that third land when you only have two in your hand.

mtgbass I think Burn decks that throw direct damage at the face is probably Battlefield Thaumaturge themed decks' worst match up, and I am still brainstorming solid sideboard options to hedge against decks like yours. I would appreciate if you play tested vs my deck and gave some constructive criticism, because my local meta is heavy with Boros Burn. Please take a look at ERMAHGERD it's THERMATURGE! and let me know how it fares.

Hmm... I am running the temples in mine, and no Mutavault . I haven't seen any mana issues at all, so I have to agree on that front. Also, I would think Lagonna-Band Trailblazer should be strong against burn, no?

forbiddenvoid that is good, because a lot of times, i would just play an Anger of the Gods and your side of the battlefield would be gone. Also, Fitzig23 your deck went 4-0. It didnt even come close at any time. The exact thing that happened to this deck kept happening to yours. You had some bad luck mulligans and draws as well. lets put it this way; these decks are screwed against burn at the moment. Against anything else besides burn and mill (which gave on both of you 3-1) these decks are great. I like them.

mtgbass Yeah, if you have a chance to test against mine, too, I'd like to see if it fares any better. I think having the 4-toughness 1st plays should give it a slightly (if not good) better shot.

mtgbass thanks for the play testing and feedback. A well-timed Anger of the Gods will clear my board state, even with Ajani's Presence up. I am starting to think that 4x Negate or 4x Dispel might be mandatory in the sideboard. Almost any creature deck has been tapped down and weenied over that I have play tested against, but Burn seems to be my bane.

mtgbass just FYI, this deck was made to go against standard decks, so I'm sure with your modern options this deck won't stand a chance. I don't think that will make too much of a difference considering how fast Boros Burn decks are at the moment, but I don't expect this deck to be able to hang with modern unless it was changed to modern as well.

Regardless thanks for the playtests.

Dispel in the sideboard for burn decks works well!

I would agree with aaronmaxey on Dispel . I have 4 copies of Gainsay in my sideboard - Nimble Heroes, because my meta is heavy control. In a burn-heavy environment, I would probably swap those out for Dispel .

Fitzig23 Youre right, some of my stuff is pretty recent, but the latter is rotated out of standard. And forbiddenvoid i am about to test your deck.

how will a deck like this fair against control and discard decks?

I just read your description again and maybe it's been posted before, but I was wondering: You're not actually changing your attacking 1/1 Launch the Fleet tokens into attacking 2/2 Curse of the Swine tokens, right? It's still a good swap, but the 2/2 boars will not be attacking since you already declared attackers.
Imagine changing your 1/1's in 2/2 (awesome) and your opponents fatties (like gods) into 2/2's (sucks). Nice :)

pcvogel - Curse of the Swine is a sorcery anyway, and wouldn't be cast until after the combat step is over.
