Thanks for the shout out good sir :)

I came second in an FNM today 3-1, beat solar flare, wolf run, RDW and lost to illusions. I was pretty happy :)

I like your deck :)

Why the black splash? just for forbidden?I originally had ambush vipers, but eventually found them lack luster :(

Why no Delver?

I need sword of war and peace.. Do you actually have some? O.o

Sword of feast and famine makes more sense with the draw go aspect, but the deck struggles against burn so pro red is a god send!

I haven't updated the sideboard yet, but I splash black because there are some great black cards for siding in like Tribute to Hunger and Memoricide .

I chose Gatstaf Shepherd over delver for the wolf flavor and because I'm running 4x Moonmist . Gatstaf Howler also has intimidate, and with a sword, only green and artifacts can block it.

And yeah, I have 3 war and peace, but none of the other two.

Ambush Viper is creature removal, and it's also a two power creature that can be cast on their turn. I plan on not casting spells on my turns in order to

Yea you have some good points :)

Ambush Viper gets ALOT better with swords :)

Delver of Secrets  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Insectile Aberration would have flying though ;) but it can be completely incompatible with Moonmist :(

I've been finding that my deck runs out of cards mid game, so I'm going to find room for Think Twice , any chance you can recommend some cards I take out for it?

You'll have to tell me how the black splash goes :)

I orginally had an idea to make the deck G/B and make them discard their spells so they COULDNT cast a spell, and so mayor would flip :P it didnt work so well though :(

This deck works absolute wonders on decks that don't run a lot of creatures. I ended up losing to Grixis Heartless Summoning. I got crushed by GW humans as well. I added card:Black Sun's Zenith to the sideboard to deal with that.

Jain_Mor says... #7

Interesting...

Against humans I try to get a Mayor down ASAP, then counter their 3 and 4 drops.. plus vapor snag is good. Precursor Golem helps alot against white decks.

How do you find Moonmist ??? you are running 4 main board O.o

December 24, 2011 5:37 a.m.

Yeah, Moonmist was actually one of the stars of the deck last night. People don't prepare for it. They swing with everything and you only have humans to block, but then after you cast it, you have werewolves and they can't do damage. Or you can use it to swing all out when you know they won't block because they think they can swing to win on the next turn. Then when they alpha strike, you cast it to prevent all of the damage, and they have no blockers. OR, you attack with a 1/1 or 2/2 and they block with a 3/3 or less, then cast it and it works are creature removal and saves your wolf. It's actually really versatile and it's never a dead card (unless you're playing against a werewolf deck). AT WORST it's a 2cmc fog.

Problem is I run Delver of Secrets  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Insectile Aberration and Moonmist actually flips him/her back :(

but its awesome its been working out for you so well!

And Merry Christmas Good Sir!

I think Mind Control or the new Beguiler of Wills or Soul Seizer  Flip could be a good answer to Mirran Crusader , Hamlet Captain , and the like, no? Just an idea.

I also just wanted to mention that the counter spells garuntee that your wolfs transform back into their weaker selves. What if instead of black you used red and played the red wolves like Reckless Waif  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Merciless Predator, etc + Mind Control effects would make more sense to me.

I like the idea of using mind control effects to deal with rough creatures. I don't understand what you mean about the counterspells guaranteeing a transformation. could you explain?

January 18, 2012 12:27 a.m.

Strangelove says... #12

Wait, never mind! I thought the werewolf transform was "if two or more spells were cast last turn . . ." but it's "if a player cast two or more spells last turn . . ."

I like this concept much more now. The wolves pressure your opponent to keep casting spells while you counter them :D

+1, I may have to make a RUG version or maybe just RU. I like those wolves a lot more (for no reason really).

Hey hows it going!

How have you found your mana base in the end?

Do you still not miss Delver of Secrets  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Insectile Aberration :P

I'm thinking of splashing red for Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip in my deck.. here check it out an "updated version"

Counter Wolf UGr

As for your deck, I am jealous of the black removal XD

how is Gatstaf Shepherd  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Gatstaf Howler doing for you? You not though about running Skinshifter instead, he is REALLY good.

January 18, 2012 7:31 a.m.

sarpnasty says... #14

Nice, go for it. If you put it on this site, put a link on this page so I can check it out. I think RU werewolves would be sick.

As far as why I chose green over red, I like Moonmist and Mayor of Avabruck  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Howlpack Alpha and Thrun, the Last Troll are my two favorite creatures in standard.

January 18, 2012 7:54 a.m.

sarpnasty says... #15

I like that Gatstaf Shepherd  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Gatstaf Howler comes in as a 2/2. So many people are running Gut Shot . As far as Delver of Secrets  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Insectile Aberration, if I didn't get it and a blue source on turn 1, I'd ever end up casting it. I'd much rather play a Mayor or Shepherd turn 2. By turn 3, I want to stop casting spells on my turn to allow my wolves to transform and to save mana for countering and removal on my opponents turn.

Jain_Mor says... #16

Lol I did link it in that post, did the link not work??

here again: Counter Wolf UGr

Good point about Gatstaf Shepherd  Flip I'll have to consider that.. but still you havnt tried Skinshifter he is really good!

January 19, 2012 7:25 a.m.

Strangelove says... #17

I could get behind the Skinshifter idea, but I wouldn't put him in just because of the theme :D

January 19, 2012 1:09 p.m.

sarpnasty says... #18

Yeah, that's the only reason I'm hesitant to add him. I already have a Thrun in here and I don't want to take away from the werewolfness of the deck :p. I'm all for good, competitive cards, but I try to stick to a theme. I have to unfortunately take a break from FNM's for a few weeks, but when I finally play this deck, if SkinshifterMTG Card: Skinshifter is the one thing that will put my deck over the top, he'll definitely go in.

January 19, 2012 2:55 p.m.

Jain_Mor says... #19

oh I see, yea I assumed u were being as competitive as possible :)

then I fully support your non inclusion of dearest SkinshifterMTG Card: Skinshifter!

January 19, 2012 5:01 p.m.

sarpnasty says... #20

Yeah, although, I could argue that other than thrun, all of my creatures are green humans that transform if i added skinshifter :p

January 19, 2012 9:37 p.m.

Jain_Mor says... #21

hhahahahaha.. the plight of a volthros!

January 20, 2012 4:55 a.m.

sarpnasty says... #22

I added SkinshifterMTG Card: Skinshifter in there and took out a couple of lands. I was getting mana flooded way too often.
