Wonder Woman: Warrior Goddess

A Dragonshield Deck Challenge

Wonder Woman's Main Gal

I built this deck for two reasons: 1) I love LOVE Wonder Woman; and 2) Dragonshield put out those lovely sleeves and I wanted in on the fun.

First off, I wanted a 5-color commander with warrior synergy: enter our Wondrous, Womanly Warrior Najeela, the Blade-Blossom. General Najeela is our Wonder Woman stand-in. An investigation of both her synergies and all the action-figure equipment that make Wonder Woman action-tastic easily lead to a decision on warrior-tribal with equipment synergy.

WW's Warriors & Their Allies

To assist Wonder Woman I needed some Amazons--more warriors--preferably (mostly) female as being from Themyscira. Most of the warriors I chose aide in some way or another in the warrior and equipment synergy--giving other warriors some kind of bonus, or allowing equipments to be attached or moved, or creating warrior tokens. There were far more than I could include, sadly, but I did my best. Among the crowd I have one scout with excellent equipment synergy, meant as our Steve Trevor character. I also found good synergy and support in two Planeswalkers, who stand in for Wonder Woman's mother and queen, Hippolyta, and her aunt and trainer, Antiope. They are both "of the ancients" which is cool and, I like to think, harkens to the long history of the Amazons. The majority of the warriors are red/green/white (while the enchantments include those three plus a splash of blue). So while the deck is 5-color, the warriors are not. The rest of the warrior-Amazons in the deck are a fun mix that I really enjoy playing. I wish I could include more! I'm just stuffing the ones I miss into the sideboard so that I can play them later...LOL.

Equipments Fit for a Warrior

Seeing as how I wanted to equip Wonder Woman and her warriors with her Wonder-Womanly "stuff", I made this an equipment /enchantment deck (not all of her "stuff" could be satisfactorily found as an artifact-equipment, hence the enchantments-auras). So, let's touch on each of the notable items that WW has in her arsenal. I have the all-important bracers in three equipments--Illusionist's, Opaline, and Bladed. Her also-important tiara is represented with two enchantments--Crown of Vigor and Crown of Ascension. WW's golden lasso is represented with a whip and these bonds (enchantments), and this fun Whip Vine (wall). Of course she has to have her cape and a backup fancier cape for special occasions, and some pretty boots, and a shiny, death-defying shield (or two)! And of course that lovely, mythological golden armor--there's too many to choose from but in the end I settled with Slagwurm Armor and Maul of the Skyclaves. When it came to the Godkiller, I had a very difficult time of it. I settled on four useful greatswords (see decklist above) but really wanted to include more! (What I really wanted was the Sword of Truth and Justice--wouldn't that be perfect with the WW theme?--but I sadly cannot afford one.) What about her invisible jet, you ask? How about this for a jet, or perhaps an illusive, invisible umbra? Both of these, along with the other equipments, make this deck a lot of fun.

If you've created your own Wonder Woman or other superhero (as in, other Justice League, DC or Marvel, X-Men heroes, etc.--not Planeswalker-superheroes) deck, please leave a comment and a link. I've love to take a peek and vicariously enjoy all the super-hero-ish-ness!
