This deck is all about the Flying Crane, bro. Break the wrist, walk away.
This is a budget casual Jeskai deck based on......drum roll the [[flying crane technique]....and if that doesn't work we'll just combo into infinite either way!
Phase 1, pressure the field with Monastary Swiftspear and instants.
Phase 2, establish Jeskai Ascendancy. If
Retraction Helix
is in your hand on the following turn. Bounce back
Hammerhand
multiple times and targeting
Arena Athlete
for round of unblocking. Alternatively, if you have
Springleaf Drum
and
Retraction Helix
in your hand and a creature you can perform the infinite combo.
Jeskai Ascendancy, cast
Retraction Helix
on creature 1. Cast
Springleaf Drum
. Everything untaps. Tap creature 2 with
Springleaf Drum
and add 1 floating mana. Tap creature 1 and bounce
Springleaf Drum
back into hand. Repeat. Infinite draw and counters
Phase 3, by now your field should be littered with the cheap heavy hitters
Sightless Brawler
, Spirit of the Labyrinth, Monastery Swiftspear,
Arena Athlete
. Cast
Flying Crane Technique
for the win. REX KWON DO!
On flavor, I did find it funny that Jeskai happened to match Rex Kwon Do pants
============================================Creatures:
Arena Athlete
- You need to reliable get hits in especially if Monastery Swiftspear gets pumped up for a turn and can land some beefy 3-4 power hits. It can also be useful mid to late game to shut down critical blockers. It also has formidable attack to stack with Jeskai Ascendancy and Titan's Strength for an easy 5 point hit.
Coordinated Assault - Triggers heroic for the Arena Athlete as well as provides a surprise combat trick against would be large opponents. If it doesn't work out, simply replace it with Gods Willing.
Evolving Wilds - The deck originally ran 6 copies of scry lands. That's a problem if you want to play around and not spend more than 20 bucks on this deck. So in this goes! Add some trashable
Mystic Monastery
to go with it.
Flying Crane Technique
- I've been staring at this card too long and as any player of Magic the Gathering knows. If you do this long enough, eventually you will build a deck around it.
Hammerhand
- Disables blockers and enables that swift unsuspecting hit that can be critical to your opponents. Break the wrist, walk away.
Jeskai Ascendancy - Super fun card to play with. Enables a legal infinite combo and or boost up a single turn of pure hurt.
Monastery Swiftspear - This shifty asian warrior will keep your opponents on their toes as you boost them over and over again with the plethora of instants. No one wants to be assigned to blocking these guys.
Mountain - Absolute staple in this deck. Without this, the deck is literally crippled!
Oreskos Swiftclaw
- With the idea of Jeskai Ascendancy and
Flying Crane Technique
in mind. You need some cost efficient creatures whom also had a lot of Power to make the opponent hurt...and hurt real bad. That's at least 4/2 flying with double strike and if that isn't some Rex Kwon Do, then I don't what is!
Retraction Helix
- Evasion is the key in this deck, bouncing key defensive creatures or planeswalkers will keep those pesky expensive decks in check. Haha loser, you paid 400 bucks for your deck only to lose to a <20 one!
Satyr Hoplite - Figured that there were plenty of targets for heroic. So this guy would pack a can whoop ass.
Sightless Brawler
- Not really one to attack alone, but it's generally used as an efficient attacker to stack with
Flying Crane Technique
. I'm also assuming it won't attack alone.
Springleaf Drum
- Part of the alternate wincon, but also a great way to mana fix a deck that's refusing to use fetch lands because REX KWON DO, that's why!
Titan's Strength - Obviously combos with Monastery Swiftspear whether it targets her or not. Other notable targets are also Satyr Hoplite or [[arena athlete] for a roundhouse kick to the opponent's life points.
