Awakening Zone was a good ideia! I made my Calling the monsters with soldier tokens to bring angels kk, but you make a nice deck

i think you may take 2 of the Simic Growth Chamber down, the mana are good, but it make your game too slow, and I think it would be good you have at least one Mass Polymorph, many tokens, many creatures.

@lescarabello:
-Simic Growth Chamber did actually help the most in my playtesting, since it can return tapped lands to your hands, so i just tap a land for mana, spend it and return it to my hand.
-As for Mass Polymorph i took it out because it doesn't really help. I only have four creatures in the deck i want (five with Jalira, Master Polymorphist since i only want one out), so it would kill most of my things for little profit.

But still thx for your comment :)

Jalira in a polymorph deck where she isn't a commander is a baaaaad idea. Really bad.

Cast through time. Too expensive for the effect.

Ideally I would go for a UG list with manlands, dig spells and consistentcy like Serum/Slight then with Staff/Polymorph you have 8 copies of it.

@LeaPlath the problem with Proteus Staff is that it doesn't kill, it just puts on the bottom of the library, wich means that none of Worldspine Wurms effects activate.
thx for the Cast Through Time hint. in my playtesting it has proven usefull, but not often (maybe like 2 times). As for Jalira, Master Polymorphist i actually really like her in the deck (mostly for flavor) but she is actually really good, since she can be "fetched" with Polymorph but hshe herself is a Polymorph on a stick that doesn't search for herself.

As for the draw/dig spells and making the deck more consistent since i am going to take out Cast Through Time, Call to Mind and (probably) Blue Sun's Zenith what do you think would be best to put in?

Also what do you think about From Beyond for more mana-tokens consistency?

December 23, 2015 12:13 p.m.

I can't do a lengthy comment right now, but my immediate impressions are:

You should ditch Jalira.

You need to hit your 4th land drop consistently- which means you either need stuff like Serum Visions, ramp spells, or just plain old more land.

You definitely want counterspells to protect Polymorph and your Wurm. Can also be used to slow opponent down when needed.

It looks like you're trying to do too much. Flipping one Wurm should be enough to win the game unless the opponent can Exile it and you don't have a counter ready. If you want extra value, maybe try Cackling Counterpart. If want to be able to respond to removal, you can pack Beast Within or Pongify, which give you some defense, but can also be used to target your own Wurm if you want to split it, or respond to Path to Exile.

@Wizard_of_the_Broke well ok... if everyone says it is better to take out jalira its probably the best... Maybe i will make a commander deck with her someday...
Anyeway Cackling Counterpart seems cool and i will definitly run Pongify in the mainboard and Beast Within if my opponent is playing a less creature intensive deck.
Serum Visions is just a little too costly for me. Maybe i will get my playset someday but until then do you have some good replacements?
Finally what do you think about runing 2 Gigantiform to make that last swing all the more painfull and also Simic Charm for the versatility? (maybe Evolution Charm for the evasion and Piracy Charm)

December 23, 2015 1:44 p.m.

The problem with Gigantiform is that it's a large investment of mana, but loses to cheap removal spells like Terminate.

Simic Charm is a decent utility card. The others aren't great.

If you can't do Visions, think about Anticipate, Telling Time, Sleight of Hand, and See Beyond- the last is especially good here if you draw your Wurm, making it unavailable to find with PMorph. Peer Through Depths is good, too.

As far as cheap counters, Dispel is very good at protecting creatures and combos, but not great at disruption, and Mana Leak, Negate, Remand, and Spell Pierce are all good all-around counters.

thx for your help Wizard_of_the_Broke.
Anyway i only have 1 Remand in my collection so there are 2 Mana Leaks in addition to it.
Im going to do some more playtesting and make an update later.

December 23, 2015 2:45 p.m.

No worries, I think you're on the right track.

One note, I think this card, coming in Oath of the Gatewatch, is going to make UG Polymorph a lot better:

your text here

I think my version might look something like this if I can get a couple copies: Budget Bunny Suit <$150 (w/ new Nissa?)

@Wizard_of_the_Broke Yea this card definitly seems better than Garruk, Primal Hunter in here.
And she doesn't seem too good for standard so maybe she will even cost less.

Hi! This is the same idea of deck Ive got, now Im testing different colors:
1. UR red to have bolt and useful cards as Crimson Wisps (take a look to my PolyRed
2. UW white to have a second winning way: tokens. And with Virtue Intangible your 5/5 wurms become 6/6 or more. (take a look to my PolySpine
and now Im trying to build a UG.
Some point about it:
- Nissa, Voice of Zendikar is good, but I prefer the 4x Awakening Zone because its stronger: your opp cant attack it and the token can add mana.
- Garruk Wildspeaker can make your deck faster, with its first ability and add 3/3 with the second one (and costa 4 mana instead of five as the other Garruk)
- Wind Zendikon is really good with Khalni Garden
- Explore to make your play faster

Other interesting cards are:
- Sprout, because an instant token played on your opponent turn is good
- Sheltering Word to protect your Wurm and gain 15 life!

Thx Decapablo for your comment. There are some really interesting cards in there.
Garruk Wildspeaker is actually a really ood replacement for Garruk, Primal Hunter but the new Nissa still seems like the best planeswalker when she comes out.
Wind Zendikon is something i would much rather put in the sideboard for the right matchups becasue i feel like it wouldn't be very usefull otherwise.
Sheltering Word is a really good replacement for Simic Charm, although it loses the unsummon effect (but Worldspine Wurm has trample so it doesn't really matter).
lastly i played around with Sprout and Sprout Swarm but i didn't really need them

December 24, 2015 6:28 a.m.

I've been testing new Nissa, VoZ a bit an decided that so far I like a 3:2 split between her ans Awakening Zone. She's the better card because of her ability to pump 0/1 tokens. I think the split makes sense because then you can run 3 of her so you rarely draw a copy you can't play, and still have the effect consistently with Zone as token generators #4-5. It's noteworthy that having her and Zone on the field at the same time was good enough to win games on its own.

I really like Sheltering Word as sideboard tech, that's a nice call Decapablo.

As for Sprout - it's not such a bad 2-of, of Peer Through Depths makes it way better. Sprout allows for situations where you look like you have no legal Polymorph targets, inducing a tap out from your opponent. Drop Sprout at the end of their turn, which enables the combo. It's made better by Peer through Depths, because it gives you a way to make tokens accessible by Peer - if that's the combo piece you need.

PixelAlex says... #15

@Wizard_of_the_Broke maybe you are right with Sprout. I am probably gonna take out Anticipate for it, since it didn't really do much.
As for the new Nissa i am not gonna take out Awakening Zone not a chance. I would much rather have her as 3 or or 4 of by replacing garruk and maybe anticipate (or have the rest in the sideboard when needed). Awakening Zone is just such an important card in here that helps with so many problems.

December 24, 2015 3:24 p.m.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm saying the new Nissa makes Awakening Zone waaay better. I am saying that I wouldn't run 4 of the same Walker, and I'd maybe cut 1-2 Zones, but certainly not all. I think the right number of Nissas and Zones is dependent on mana curve. My version of the deck has 2X Proteus Staff, which means 7 other 3-drops are more likely to get in each other's way. In your deck, I think you can get away with 4X Zones, but I would consider getting rid of Kodama's Reach in that case, because you're going to consistently have something better to play on turn 3- maybe use Search for Tomorrow instead (in suspend mode, ofcourse)?

December 24, 2015 4:15 p.m.

PixelAlex says... #17

@Wizard_of_the_Broke i actually considered Search for Tomorrow but wasn't sure since it only searched for one land. But i find myself doing nothing on turn 1 anyway and it doesn't put the land tapped so it is probably better here.

December 24, 2015 4:23 p.m.

Yeah it's a terrible topdeck. But if you don't have much to do on turn 1, it allows for turn 3 Polymorph, so it has value. Explore has the same issue of being a poor topdeck. Personally, I prefer to forget about mana ramp, and have Gitaxian Probe or Sleight of Hand for my 1-drops.

December 24, 2015 4:46 p.m.

PixelAlex says... #19

@Wizard_of_the_Broke Yea the ramo isn't totally needed but i already took out Simic Signet and Search for Tomorrow can actually help with mana fixing (wich happens rarely here, but it happens)

why no Proteus Staff

January 5, 2016 7:12 a.m.

PixelAlex says... #21

@Steiny156 Proteus Staff doesn't kill the creature wich means that the "combo" from Worldspine Wurm doesn't trigger.

I am just wondering why Cloudform isn't in here. you should also have some hand intel, by means of Peek or Gitaxian Probe. I made my own mono-blue version of polymorph here if you want.
