I love it! I am always impressed at ideas like this. I really loved the moonfolk back in the day and this makes me want to play them again. Do you ever kill your moonfolk to your commander? He is a bit pricey to get out. What about using Vedalken Shackles since you are so island based? Might come in handy :)

That's a good idea! I'm debating putting some landfall in to. It just works way to well with the Patron of the Moon and the other moonfolk to pass up to pass up.

I used to run a Patron of the Moon deck, but they can be a bit... unfun. If you are looking for power plays consider Training Grounds , Amulet of Vigor and Sunder , arguably the least fun control card around, but undeniable in its effectiveness. (You can float huge mana, return all lands to people's hands then just set them back down with the patron)

Additionally consider Walking Atlas and Roil Elemental . Other landfall can be useful, but roil elemental can end games on his own. This is in addition to just plain too good blue cards like Cryptic Command .

I don't see anything for Deadeye to exploit so I assume you are using him for protection? There are probably better options. Kira, Great Glass-Spinner is better in most regards, though it won't save your general from a board wipe. If that is your concern, consider equipment instead. Sage of Lat-Nam seems like a waste, you have few artifacts and they aren't the kind you want to sac. I would probably swap out the starfish for a Crystal Ball .

I personally used Empyrial Plate and to a lesser extent Adventuring Gear as win-cons.

I find some control cards like Turn to Frog or Rapid Hybridization can be useful in mono-blue, and since almost all your creatures are flying, Favorable Winds may be fun. Those suggestionare are less powerful, but may help you be consistant.

I had her in there originally but then took her out. While she is awesome I don't know if she would do a huge amount of good. I may put her back. We'll see.

Cyclonic Rift is sadly missing from this deck

Yeah I should try to work one in. There are so many things I want to fit that I don't have room for yet. Any suggestions?

Drop Cancel for Dissolve , it is strictly better.

Leyline of Singularity is strictly only good against decks that produce tokens, so if that is a thing in your meta or play group, then cool. Otherwise, drop it. It is easily a dead card in hand. That could make room for Cyclonic Rift

Dissipation Field is WAY risky in EDH, a lot of decks will abuse that against you to replay creatures with awesome ETB effects. I managed to board wipe every turn with Reiver Demon and one of those in play.

Also, with all of your land bouncing and shenanigans, Memnarch could be a blast to have fun with as well. Plays off of Roil Elemental way to well.

Where is Tamiyo, the Moon Sage ?!?! She screams flavor for this deck, and helps your theme.

Sol Ring . Nuf said.

Last but not least, if I were to have a mono blue EDH deck, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir would be in the deck.

As for cards I'm least impressed with in this deck, Archeomancer only has 11 targets in a 100 card deck... not very impressive. Deadeye Navigator has only one creature in your deck that has an ETB effect. He could be dropped unless you're using him specifically for protection in which case... still unimpressive. Future Sight seems rather dull after all the additional draw power this deck has. Who cares what the top card is, you have better 5CMC drops than that.

I think you have one too many cards. It should be 100 including the commander and I didn't see Patron in your list.

You're very right. Thanks for catching that!

I'm not sure why but when I look at my list to edit the deck, Patron of the Moon is in there. It's just on the public list that hes not.

I think you'd benefit way more with Jace, Memory Adept rather than Jace Beleren , mainly because he has no downsides when drawing cards, and you can combo it with Tamiyo, the Moon Sage 's emblem. And also, have you considered Halimar Depths ?

TheBoss93 says... #17

I actually did get a Halimar Depths for this deck but just haven't updated the list yet lol. And I completely agree Jace, Memory Adept is loads better. Thanks for the help! TheAmazingSalsa

I'm debating putting in a Lifeline . It would work really well to save my moonfolk and help me get Patron of the Moon out for dirt cheap. But I'm not quite sure what to take out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mind Over Matter is a great card and can combo with Azami, Lady of Scrolls , especially when you have Tamiyo, the Moon Sage 's token

July 30, 2014 10:52 p.m.

Maybe a Svyelunite Temple , It'll help you ramp up early on.

All right, I'll help.

For starters, Cloudstone Curio makes infinite mana with Patron and Amulet of Vigor out. (needs at least 2 lands in hand and 2 on the field)

I think the place people go most wrong with any Patron deck is to assume that the best course of action is to include as many creatures of that tribe as they can; despite the fact that the kamigawa tribes are tiny, and most of their creatures suck. (When was the last time you saw a decent fox deck?) A lot of the moonfolk here are kind of shitty and don't really do anything to advance the deck other than make it easier to get Patron out. Which means when you draw them later than turn 7, they're a completely dead draw. There are lots of high cost commanders that are completely viable without having to cheat them into play, and the fact that you can cheat them into play should be looked at as more of a bonus than a necessity. (Cheating Patron into play is still nice though. I LOVE the Lifeline trick, very clever.)

From the moonfolk you have I'd say that Floodbringer and Soratami Mirror-Guard don't do anything worthwhile, and Oboro Envoy Soratami Cloudskater Uyo, Silent Prophet and Meloku the Clouded Mirror are meh.

Oboro Envoy is only a defensive measure, and only a good defensive measure with Patron and Training Grounds out.

Soratami Cloudskater digs, but doesn't do it very well, you're better off going with more substantial draw factor, even if it's at a higher cost (Consecrated Sphinx ).

Uyo, Silent Prophet is meta dependent. You don't really have any instants that are worth copying for any reason other than to force them past counterspells, and no sorceries. If your playgroup throws out a lot counters, redirects, or spells that you can piggyback off of then it's worth the spot. Otherwise, "Get thee to a sideboard!"

Meloku the Clouded Mirror looks great at first glance, but becomes problematic when you look at how little token support you have here. Tokens for tokens sake wont help you win. The only ways I see this being good is to use it a sink for infinite mana alongside Patron to get infinite flyers, or to use it lategame for pingers once you've guarantied that everyone is mana screwed.

As for worrying whether you'll be hindering yourself by including less moonfolk, you can always fill the empty space with more versatile Clone s (Phyrexian Metamorph Body Double Cryptoplasm Mercurial Pretender Phantasmal Image Renegade Doppelganger Sakashima's Student Shapesharer Vesuvan Doppelganger Vesuvan Shapeshifter )

Some other things that might work well here:

Eternity Vessel , because Eternity Vessel

Deprive , Thwart , Flooded Shoreline , Ovinomancer , Vapor Snare , Trade Routes .
